Three things really mattered to Bruce Lee… reality, reality and reality! Why three realities… because there are three ways or positions to view life.
There is our personal view of reality, there is other people’s views of reality, and there is the objective reality… mastery of reality is about understanding and then utilising all three in your daily life.
Bruce had a powerful sense of his own reality, he knew who he was, and where he was going. He had a very strong inner reference about martial arts and movie making.
Like Bruce, we all need a strong but flexible sense of self and who we are… this is not ego, this is about being the “best” you, that you can be.
The second reality to master is comprehending the reality of others. Bruce knew and understood other people’s actions and wants/desires with incredible skill. His films are testimony to that! He knew how to fill a cinema.
The inability to “read” others is a major failing that many people have! They have little or no idea about what someone else is experiencing… they are the crashing bore at the party!
Finally we have objective or neutral reality. This is seeing the “big picture”. It’s having an overview of life and its events.
Objective reality allows us to have a much more nuanced idea of life and its ups and downs. It keeps you center and balanced… Bruce fully realised and used this “meta position” to create his success.
So then, like Bruce, embrace the mastery of reality… and therefore the three realities, in your day to day events.
