*Gurudev’s Knowledge From Rishikesh*

1. All our good qualities and bad qualities are of Devi Maa.
2. When we realise even the bad qualities are Of Devi Maa we are free of conflict.
3. When we are free of conflict then sattva arises & awakens in us.
4. Devi Maa is here only and when the veil of ignorance is removed she becomes visible.
5. We should not try to understand but be in a state of innocence.
6. By dipping in Ganga and sitting in satsang for 5 minutes we become sin free.
7. In the end we all have to eventually go back to Ganga.
8. We should leave happily while exiting this world.
9. This is the goal of satsangees. All work of satsangees gets done once they come to the Guru.
10. If work is not done then one has not come to the Guru.
11. No need to get sad when we have to exit the world one day.

*Simple solutions to even the most difficult problems can be found with the power of discretion

A big factory was being built in Kerala and a grave problem arose during the construction of that plant. The problem was that a really heavy machine had to be placed at the bottom of a deep pit built in the plant, but the weight of the machine posed a challenge.

The machine arrived at the site but how to get it down in the 30 feet deep pit, had become a big problem!!

If not installed properly, both the foundation and the machine would suffer a lot.

Now, this was a time when cranes that could lift very heavy weights were not available everywhere. The ones available could probably lift the machine, but to land it in the deep pit was beyond their capacity.

Finally, the company constructing the plant gave up, and issued a tender to find a solution to this problem. As a result, a lot of people sent their offers to fit this machine in the pit. They thought that they would call for a crane and get the machine installed.

Accordingly, they asked for 10 to 15 lakh rupees to complete the work. But there was a gentleman among those people, who asked the company, "if the machine gets drenched in water, will there be any problem?"

The company replied that "it will not make any difference to the machine."

After that, he also filled the tender.

When all the offers were seen, that person had asked for only 5 lakh rupees for completing the work. So obviously, the job of setting up the machine was given to him.

But the strange thing was that this person refused to share how he would do this work, and only said that he had the skills and the right team to do it.

He just asked the company to tell him the date and time on which to do this work.

The day finally came. Every employee, manager, even the boss of the company and everyone around was very curious to know how that man would do this work! He had not even done any preparation on the site.

Well, on the decided time, a lot of trucks started reaching that site. All those trucks were loaded with ice slabs, and they were all being filled into the pit.

When the pit was completely filled with ice, they moved the machine and placed it atop the ice slabs. After this, a portable water pump was switched on and a pipe was inserted in the pit so that the water could be taken out. The ice melted, the water kept pouring out, and the machine started going down.

The work was completed within 4-5 hours and the total cost came to less than Rs.1 lakh.

The machine fit perfectly and the man made a profit of more than Rs.4 lakhs.

Business is actually a very interesting subject. *Finding a simple solution to the problem is an art, which depends on the person's prudence, cleverness and practical understanding.*

*Simple solutions to even the most difficult problems can be found with the power of discretion.* And this person proved it.

*The Giver is bigger than the Receiver.*

Once when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus.
Finally, there was only one other family between us and the ticket counter. This family made a big impression on me.
There were eight children, all probably under the age of 12. The way they were dressed, you could tell they didn't have a lot of money, but their clothes were neat and clean.
The children were well-behaved, all of them standing in line, two-by-two behind their parents, holding hands. They were excitedly jabbering about the clowns, animals, and all the acts they would be seeing that night. By their excitement you could sense they had never been to the circus before. It would be a highlight of their lives.
The father and mother were at the head of the pack standing proud as could be. The mother was holding her husband's hand, looking up at him as if to say, "You're my knight in shining armor." He was smiling and enjoying seeing his family happy.
The ticket lady asked the man how many tickets he wanted? He proudly responded, "I'd like to buy eight children's tickets and two adult tickets, so I can take my family to the circus." The ticket lady stated the price.
The man's wife let go of his hand, her head dropped, the man's lip began to quiver. Then he leaned a little closer and asked, "How much did you say?" The ticket lady again stated the price.
The man didn't have enough money. How was he supposed to turn and tell his eight kids that he didn't have enough money to take them to the circus?
Seeing what was going on, my dad reached into his pocket, pulled out a $20 bill, and then dropped it on the ground. (We were not wealthy in any sense of the word!) My father bent down, picked up the $20 bill, tapped the man on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me, sir, this fell out of your pocket."
The man understood what was going on. He wasn't begging for a handout but certainly appreciated the help in a desperate, heartbreaking and embarrassing situation.
He looked straight into my dad's eyes, took my dad's hand in both of his, squeezed tightly onto the $20 bill, and with his lip quivering and a tear streaming down his cheek, he replied; "Thank you, thank you, sir. This really means a lot to me and my family."
My father and I went back to our car and drove home. The $20 that my dad gave away is what we were going to buy our own tickets with.
Although we didn't get to see the circus that night, we both felt a joy inside us that was far greater than seeing the circus could ever provide.
*That day I learnt the value to Give.*
*The Giver is bigger than the Receiver.*

Deep Respects

The daughter of former US President Barrack Obama had been working in a restaurant for some time, hiding her identity. Although while travelling to her workplace,  the American security machinery was in place - albrit from a distance, so that the restaurant's owner, other employees or customers would not know.

Despite being famous, being humble is a sign of great humility  and good parental  grooming... Obama's daughter did it...  and for the past 2-3 years, especially in the Indian media, she's gained a lot  of unsolicited publicity and popularity...

But until now, we did not know of the ultimate politeness, humility and amiability of a similar Indian girl.

Her name is Swati.
She was a flight attendant in ‘Air India’, the leading airline in the country.
She's been working for several years as a flight attendant on ‘Air India’ Boeing 777 & 787 aircrafts in distant lands like Australia, Europe and America.

But do you know -  the full name of this 5.4'  tall Swati...?
Her name is Ms. Swati Kovind!
Yes, you've guessed it right - she's the Daughter of President Ramnath Kovind!
Until now, even the ‘Air India’ authorities did not know about this.
Neither Pres. Ramnath Kovind nor his daughter Swati Kovind disclose the matter, so it was a secret till recently...!
But it's no longer a secret... because ‘Air India’ has been handed over to the Tatas.
Upon learning the fact, the present Tata authorities have honourably and silently transferred Swati Kovind from the post of flight attendant to the internal affairs division of the ‘Air India’ office - probably out of concern for her special security needs (as the President's daughter).

Deep respects to our President... he's quietly done his work of instilling sterling qualities... in his daughter... a rare example in today's venomous opposition politics.

*"One Story, Two Perspectives."*

 *"One Story, Two Perspectives."*

*Looking At Life Differently*

A famous book writer sat in his study. He took out his pen and began to write:

“Last year, I had surgery to remove gallstones. I was bedridden for a long time.

In the same year, I turned 60 and was retired … quitting a company that I loved so much. I had to leave the job I've been doing for 35 years.

That same year I was abandoned by my beloved mother who passed away.

Then, still in the same year, my son failed his final medical exam because of a car accident.  Repair costs from the car damage marked the peak of bad luck last year.”

At the end he wrote:
“What, what a bad year!"

The writer's wife entered the room and found her husband who was sad and pensive. From behind, the wife saw the husband's writing. Slowly she backed away and left the room.

15 minutes later she came back in and put down a piece of paper with the following words:

“Last year, my husband finally managed to get rid of his gallbladder which had been making his stomach hurt for years.

That same year, I am grateful that my husband was able to retire in a healthy and happy state of mind & body. I thank God he was given the opportunity to work and earn for 35 years to support our family.

Now, my husband can spend more of his time writing, which has always been his hobby.

In the same year, my 95 year old mother-in-law, without any pain, returned to God in peace.

And still in the same year, God protected our son from harm in a terrible car accident. Our car was seriously damaged by the accident, but my son survived without any serious injuries.”

In the last sentence his wife wrote:
“Last year was a year full of extraordinary blessings from God, and we spent it full of wonder and gratitude.”

The writer smiled with emotion, and warm tears flowed down his cheeks. He was grateful for a different point of view for every event he had gone through the past year. A different perspective of the same events now made him joyful.

Friends, in this life we must understand that it is not happiness or joy that makes us grateful. It is *gratitude that makes us happy/joyful*! Let’s practise seeing events from a positive point of view and keep envy away from our hearts.
