A narcissist is ENVIOUS of you… Narcissists always seem to be jealous of you. They put you on a pedestal the first time they see you and think you are someone who will raise their ego and their image. But as time goes on, their arrogant sense of being entitled to everything you have, your successes, and good relationships keeps growing and motivates them to hurt you. The kind of jealousy that consumes a person every day does not make them wish for what is best for the other person but rather to bring that one down. That is the kind of attitude the narcissist has towards you. They want to pull you down to their level. They want you to be totally dependent on them, e.g. financially or for your emotional needs, because that gives them power over you, and it is power that they always seek. You make them feel jealous when you are happy and they are not there. That is why they will want to spoil good moments that you have birthday parties celebrations awards you get and then, they will also try to belittle those celebrations. They'll say "That award wasn't that great", "That accomplishment is not that great, I've done better". It's them trying to fool themselves into believing that they are this magnificent person that they think they are. They cannot bear the idea of anyone succeeding more than they do. In fact, it is totally incomprehensible to them, which is why they have to do something negative to you even if they are telling you, "I want the best for you. I want you to succeed." That's just a phase of love-bombing with them, or they are expecting some sort of benefit from it.
