Why did the battle between Karna and Jarasandha take place?
Duryodhana abducted Kalinga princess with the support of Karna. Karna defeated all the kings who tried to chase Duryodhana. After some days, Jarasandha challenged Karna to a one on one duel hearing his fame and strength. Karna went to the kingdom of Jarasandha and overpowered Jarasandha. Jarasandha gifted the town of Malini to Karna to maintain friendship.
Narada said, 'Hearing of the fame of Karna's might, the ruler of the Magadhas, king Jarasandha, challenged him to a single combat. Both conversant with the celestial weapons, a fierce battle took place between them in which they struck each other with diverse kinds of arms.
