Foreword for book on Lord Vishnu

Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese military strategist emphasised that a true leader is in the forefront multitudinous situations. The author of “Vishnu” The Multi-Role Manager has captured graphically various avatars of Lord Vishnu, relating them to leadership qualities to usher a change.

Relying on extensive research on Lord Vishnu and his myriad forms be it through 4, 10 or 24 Avatars (as per varied texts), Professor K.S. Mohan Kumar has connected the architecture of the universe with the geometry of modern management seamlessly.

A manager operates from the top of the pyramid, middle and also as a frontline worker to create assets for the society. To be an effective manager, one needs to be equipped with acumen, education, skillsets, leadership qualities, technical know-how, maturity, ability to negotiate and be blessed with a positive mindset given the political and social environment.

The author repeatedly asks the reader to visualise and adopt the role of Sri Rama and Sri Krishna as a multi-tasking manager and then shepherd his men in unexpected situations. For this he has relied on the vast repository of sacred Hindu texts which expound countless characteristics and lilas in different yugas. The author has succinctly mentioned different gunas to weave the script of managerial functions in a facile manner.

Be it the description of Bhakti Marga of Narada and the Gyana Marg of Sage Kapila or the exposition on Lord Dhanvantri, they will certainly serve as pointers to the emerging managers of today in order to produce results in high pressure situations.

One can keep quoting the book, but it would be wise to leave it to the reader to discover the priceless gems to slay negativity like the Kalki avatar to emerge a suzerain.

My ability to connect with this book is essentially a result of constantly multi-tasking and performing different roles. Presently I am posted as the Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Southern Railway Chennai which is an onerous responsibility. In addition, by the grace of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar I am a faculty of the Art of Living Foundation and conduct Happiness Programmes and counsel alcoholics and addicts and further by his blessings have been able to author 10 books and curated one along with my wife.

In my roller-coaster life, I have been able to create opportunities amidst chaos. Lord Vishnu is the symphony in the universe amidst endless cacophony by performing multiple roles.

This offering as the writer humbly puts is well-researched and epochal for the manager of 2022 and beyond.
