Story with a Knowledge

by moreonspirituality
Kabira was raised in the family of a Muslim carpet weaver in Benares. Though the cultures were very different, Kabira had a deep affinity for Rama and wanted to learn the Rama mantra. He knew that only a guru can uplift you, the experience of the Self could come only with the grace of the Master. So he sought a guru. He went to the ashram of Sri RamanandJi. However he was sent away due to differences in his background and culture. When water comes from a shankha (conch) it is teertha ( holy water) - a sanctity is created. If you take someone as a devotee you are responsible for them here and hereafter. So they were very selective in the olden days about the qualification of the seekers. Ramanandji were very compassionate. So the disciples sent people away knowing this. Kabira left the ashram feeling very broken-hearted. He went to the ghats by the bank of Ganga in this state. It was nightfall soon and Kabira simply laid down on the steps of the ghat in tears. 'Rama, I thought I was born only for you! But I haven't even been able to receive diksha of your name!"In the ashram, when Ramanandji went to rest, in his dreams he saw Rama turning away from him at his doorstep. Lakshmana says, "everyday we come here. why are you not coming today? Rama says, " I do not go to places where my devotees are ill treated." Shaken by the dream experience Ramanandji immediately enquired from his students. They told him that there was no one of repute who had come by that day. "The only one was Kabira who wanted initiation from you. We sent him away because you would have initiated him and society would have never accepted it."
RamanandJi left saying, "I am going out of the ashram now. I am going to find Kabira and initiate him in front of all in the morning. Let society say what it wants." He then walked towards the Ganga. It was night time and with every step he took Rama's name. Walking along the ghats at one point he stepped on Kabira who was sleeping on the ghat. Realizing that he stepped on somebody he exclaims"Siya Ram!!" Kabira jumps up in joy saying," I am so fortunate! Not only did I get the mantra but also charan sparsh ( touched by the feet) of my guru!"
From that moment on Kabira has sung so many songs. When someone came to buy a carpet from him and asked him for the price, he sang saying this carpet is priceless because I have woven Rama's name with every thread!
"When I ran behind Rama, he was running away from me. But when I stopped, he ran after me." When the mind is running here and there, scattered, the divinity eludes you. When your mind is still, you are established in the Self, then you experience divinity in every particle of creation.
Every saint emphasizes on the importance of presence of the Master in our life. Only the Master can uplift you. 'Guru bina gati nahin'

Ten suggestions for Hindus using the English- As shared

Ten suggestions for Hindus using the English
1. Please stop using the word "God fearing" - Hindus never ever fear God. For us, God is everywhere and we are also an integral part of God. God is not a separate entity to fear.

2. Please do not use the meaningless term "RIP" when someone dies. Use "Om Shanti", "Sadgati" or "I wish this atma attains moksha".  Hinduism neither has the concept of "soul" nor its "resting". The terms "atma" and "jeeva" are, in a way, antonyms for the word "soul".

3. Please don't use the word "mythology" for our historic epics (Itihas) Ramayana and Mahabharata.  Rama and Krishna are historical heroes, not just mythical characters.

3. Please don't be apologetic about idol worship and say “Oh, that's just symbolic". All religions have idolatry in kinds or forms - cross, words, letters (calligraphy) or direction. Also let's stop using the words the words 'idols', 'statues' or 'images' when we refer to the sculptures of our Gods. Use the terms 'moorthi' or 'vigraha'. If words like karma, yoga, guru and mantra can be in the mainstream, why not moorthi or vigraha?

4. Please don't refer to Ganesh and Hanuman as "elephant god" and "monkey god" respectively. You can simply write Shree Ganesh and Shree Hanuman.

5. Please don't refer to our temples as prayer halls. Temples are "devalaya" (abode of god), not "prathanalaya" (prayer halls).

6. Please don't wish your children "black birthday" by letting them to blow off the candles that kept at the top of the birthday cake. Don't throw spit on the divine fire (agni deva). Instead, ask them to pray: "Oh divine fire, lead me from darkness to light" (Thamasoma Jyotirgamaya) by lighting a lamp. These are all strong images that go to deep psyche.

7. Please avoid using the words "spirituality" and "materialistic". For a Hindu, everything is divine. The words spirituality and materialism came to India through evangelists and Europeans who had a concept of church vs state. Or science vs religion. On the contrary, sages in India were scientists and the foundation stone of sanatan dharma was science.

9. Please don't use the word "sin" instead of "paap". We only have dharma (duty, righteousness, responsibility and privilege) and adharma (when dharma is not followed).  Dharma has nothing to do with social or religious morality. 'Paap' derives from adharma.

10. Please don't use loose terms like "meditation" for "dhyana" and "breathing exercise" for "pranayama". It conveys the wrong meaning. Use the original words.

Remember, the world respects only those who respect themselves!

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Sri Sri Ravi Sankar : you have to spend five days to have these five experiences to really blossom your personality in life.

You have to play SINCERELY these five roles:

1. The first role which I would recommend to you is to be a *School Teacher.*

Being a nursery or primary school teacher, even for one day, you will see how you have to increase your patience.

2. Be a *Gardener* or spend a day with a Farmer.

You will value food and you will not waste food.
You know, what we do?

3. You should spend a day in the *mental hospital*
Whatever people talk in the mental hospital, you don’t mind.
If they scold you,
if they blame you,
if they curse you,
will you mind?
You don’t mind because you are aware that this person is mentally sick.
You know that many people are outside the hospital, but that does not mean they are mentally well.
So, in life, you come across people who blame you for nothing, who are jealous or angry, who say things that make no sense. Then, you know, you will have the patience to deal with them with a smile.

4. One day you must go to a *prison*. Maybe it is shocking to you.
You don’t have to do a wrong thing to go to a prison.
Just go visit a prison, spend a little time with the prisoners.
You will understand what compassion is.
What helplessness is.
Those people did a mistake without awareness.
So you will know how you must have a say on your emotions.

5. There are terminally ill people in the *hospital*
One day with them, and you will realize how precious life is.
And you will start valuing health.
You will eat better,
you will exercise.
You will do all that is needed to be more vibrant in your life.

I guess from these five days you will become
More Vibrant, More Alive, More Loving, Compassionate
and Active.

Picture of Jesus

🙏🏻🌹😇
*A ticket collector in a train found an old worn out wallet in a compartment full of many people. He looked inside to find the name of its owner. There was no clue. All that there was in it, was some money and a picture of JESUS. He held it up and asked, 'Who does this wallet belong to?'*

*An old man said, 'That's my wallet, please give it to me.'*

*The ticket collector said, 'You'll have to prove that it is yours. Only then I can hand it over to you.'*

*The old man smiled a toothless smile and said. 'It has a picture of JESUS in it.'*

*The ticket collector said, 'That is no proof; anyone can have a picture of JESUS in his wallet. What is special about that? Why is your picture not there in it?'*

*The old man took a deep breath and said, 'Let me tell you why my picture is not there in it. My father gave this wallet to me when I was in school. I used to get a small sum as pocket money then. I had kept a picture of my parents in it.*

*When I was a teenager I was greatly enamored by my good looks. I removed my parent's picture and put in, one of my own. I loved to see my own face and my thick black hair. Some years later, I got married.*

*My wife was very beautiful and I loved her a lot. I replaced my own picture in this wallet with a picture of her. I spent hours gazing at her pretty face.*

*When my first child was born, my life started a new chapter. I shortened my working hours, to play with my baby. I went late to work and returned home early too. Obviously, my baby's picture occupied the prized position in my wallet.'*

*The old man's eyes brimmed with tears as he went on.*

*My parents passed away many years ago. Last year my wife too left her mortal coil. My son, my only son is too busy with his family. He has no time to look after me. All that I had ever held close to my heart is far, far away from my reach now.*

*Now I have put this picture of JESUS in my wallet. It is only now that I have realized that He is the eternal companion. He will never leave me. Alas! If only I had realized this before.*

*If only I had loved the JESUS all these years, with the same intensity as I loved my family, I would not have been so lonely today.*

*The collector quietly gave the wallet to the old man.*

*When the train stopped at the next station, the ticket collector went to the book stall at the platform and asked the salesman, 'Please give me a small picture of JESUS. I need one to put in my wallet.’*

Leo Buscaglia - As shared

1.   Author and lecturer, Leo Buscaglia, once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was:

A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbour was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old man's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbour, the little boy just said: 'Nothing, I just
helped him cry.'
👍👍

2.  Students, of class one in a school, were discussing a student's family picture. One little boy in the picture had a hair colour, different from the other family members.
One of the other students suggested that he was adopted.

A little girl said: 'I know all about
adoption, bcoz I was adopted..'

'What does it mean to be adopted ?', asked another child.

'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew in your mommy's heart, instead of her tummy.!'
👍👍

3. Whenever I'm disappointed with my life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott.
Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play.
His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen..

On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school.
Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement..  'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me..: 'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'
 👍👍

4.   An eye witness account from New York City , on a cold day in December.
A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the road, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering
with cold.

A lady approached the young boy and said: 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!'
The boy replied:'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes.'

The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy.
She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel.
He quickly brought them to her.

She took the little fellow to the back
part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel.

By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks.
Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes..

She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now..'

As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears
in his eyes, asked her:

'Are you God's wife.........?'
👍👍

Easter Message

*A message from the Pope at the Mass yesterday. I share it because it is really exciting*.

"You can have
Defects, be anxious and live irritated sometimes, but do not forget that your life is the biggest company in the world.
Only you can prevent her from going into decline.
There are many who appreciate you, admire you and love you.
I would like you to remember that to be happy, is not to have a sky without storms, road without accidents, works without fatigue, relationships without disappointments.
To be happy is to find strength in forgiveness, hope in battles, security in the box of fear, love in disagreements.
Being happy is not only valuing the smile, but also reflecting on sadness.
It is not just to commemorate success, but to learn lessons in failures.
It is not just to have joy with applause, but to have joy in anonymity.
To be happy is to recognize that life is worth living, despite all the challenges, misunderstandings, and periods of crisis.
Being happy is not a fatality of destiny, but a conquest for those who know how to travel within their own being.
To be happy is to stop being a victim of problems and become an actor in one's own history.
It is to cross deserts out of itself, but to be able to find an oasis in the recesses of our soul.
It is to thank God every morning for the miracle of life.
Being happy is not being afraid of your own feelings.
It is knowing how to talk about yourself.
It is courage to hear a "no".
It is safe to receive criticism, even if it is unfair.
It is to kiss the children, to pamper parents, to have poetic moments with friends, even if they hurt us.
To be happy is to let the free, happy and simple creature live within each one of us.
It is to have maturity to say 'I was wrong'.
It is to have the audacity to say *forgive me*.
It is to have sensitivity to express *'I need you'*.
It is to be able to say * 'I love you' *.
May your life become a garden of opportunity to be happy ...
May you be joyous in your spring.
In your winter you are friend of wisdom.
And when you get in the way, start all over again.
Then you will be more passionate about life.
And you will discover that to be happy is not to have a perfect life.
But use tears to water the tolerance.
Use the losses to refine the patience.
Use flaws to sculpt serenity.
Use pain lapping pleasure.
Use obstacles to open the windows of intelligence.
Never give up ....
Never give up on the people you love.
Never give up being happy, because life is a must-see! "

Good news, Esp. for the Elderly🎀- As shared

Good news, Esp. for the Elderly🎀

After the age of 50 one may experience many types of illnesses. But the one I am most worried about is Alzheimer's.

Not only would I not be able to look after myself, but it would cause a lot of inconveinence to family members....

One day, my son Rahul came home and told me that a doctor friend has taught him an exercise using the tongue.

The tongue exercise is effective to reduce the onset of Alzheimer's and is also useful to reduce / improve

*1* Body weight
*2* Hypertension
*3* Blood-Clot in Brain
*4* Asthma
*5* Far-sightedness
*6* Ear buzzing
*7* Throat infection
*8* Shoulder / Neck infection
*9* Insomia

The moves  are very simple and easy to learn....

Each morning, when you wash your face, in front of a mirror, do the exercise as below :

*stretch out your tongue and move it to the right then to the left for 10 times*

Since I started exercising my tongue daily,  there was improvement in my Brain Retention.

My mind was clear and fresh and there were other improvements too...

   1 Far sightedness
        lesser
   2  No giddiness
   3. Improved wellness
   4. Better digestion
   5. Lesser flu / cold

I am stronger and more agile.

🎀 Notes

The tongue exercise helps to control and prevent Alzheimer's...
Medical research has found that the tongue has connection with the BIG Brain. When our body becomes old and weak, the first sign to appear is that our tongue becomes stiff and often we tend to bite ourselves.

Frequently exercising your tongue will stimulate the brain, help to reduce our thoughts from shrinking and thus achieve a healthier body.
