Nostalgia Unplugged: Cherishing the Imperfections of the '80s and '90s

Nostalgia Unplugged: Cherishing the Imperfections of the '80s and '90s Social media often brings out fascinating videos that take us back to the good old days of the 1980s and 1990s. Inspired by this, I decided to take a memorable trip down memory lane in my latest blog post. Before the era of mobile phones and digital devices, our lives were filled with outdoor games like cricket, football, and badminton. Morning badminton sessions were fiercely competitive and set the tone for an energetic day ahead. Indoor activities were just as engaging. We enjoyed board games like Ludo, Snakes and Ladders, and Chinese Checkers. I even had a mini cricket game to recreate stadium matches with friends! Despite lacking proper facilities, I dreamt of playing lawn tennis, inspired by Wimbledon. Our TV was a black-and-white EC model, offering limited but cherished programs. Fridays brought laughter with "Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi" and music with "Chitrahaar." Sundays were special with "Ramayan," "Mahabharat," and "Spiderman," which we watched in color at a neighbor's house. Video games made their debut, and an Atari game box brought endless joy until it malfunctioned. Movies were a treat during summer vacations, rented from local video shops, and watched on a borrowed video cassette player. Music had its own charm with audio cassette players. We meticulously recorded songs from friends' cassettes, creating our own playlists. Life was very social without social media, filled with neighborhood interactions, outdoor picnics, and fun vacations. Reading was a personal favorite, from comics like Tintin and Asterix to novels and encyclopedias. Train journeys were magical, offering a perfect blend of adventure and reading time. We navigated life without modern conveniences, yet it was rich with experiences. We traveled without personal vehicles, learned without Google, and enjoyed a fantastic social life without social media. Our memories of unfulfilled desires and highs and lows now seem perfect. In fact, a lot of the so called necessities today weren't necessities at all for us as they did not even exist in our mind space! This blog post is a tribute to those simpler times, reminding us that nothing is imperfect in retrospect. Today's moments, too, will be perfect memories tomorrow. Let's live them fully and with complete awareness
