MANEKSHSWISM a term that he, himself coined During the tumoultous Indo Pak- war his visionary style of leadership,humility and humour was well recorded Post retirement he accepted a few Directordhip and Chairmanship of leading Companies. One of them included on the Board of Escorts when Lord Swaraj Pal a London based businessman made a bid to take over Escorts with the aid of few well placed politicians. The Goverment decided to oust the the entire Board of Directors of Escorts and reconstitute a new Board headed by a retired bureaucrat Mr Naik ICS as the Chairman. On knowing this Sam with his inimitable wit remarked that : "this is the first time a "NAIK" has replaced a "Field Marshal". Naik being a rank equivalent to a Corporal in the Indian Army.
