LORD GANESHA - Chanchal Sarin

 LORD  GANESHA

GANPATI  BAPPA  MORYA

Ganesh Chaturthi day
The day Lord Ganesha is born
I had just finished my puja in the Ganesh temple at Pune, Maharashtra, India
Crowded, hundreds of devotees thronging the temple
Lord Ganesha visiting the Mother Earth for fourteen days
Starting from today
To bless the earth with peace and prosperity

The formless divinity
Encapsulated in a magnificent form
For the sake of devotee
The divine son of lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy
The supreme consciousness
Pervades all
Brings order in universe

Associated with the sound OM,the sound of creation
The letter Om in Sanskrit
Looks like the head and trunk of elephant

Two big ears to listen more
One little mouth to talk less
Ganesha listens carefully
Attentively to the words of devotees

Big head, think big, symbol of wisdom, knowledge and intelligence
Fidelity and discriminative power

Small eyes, to concentrate
Large trunk tells us to develop one’s skills
High efficiency and adaptability
There is no straight path to success

Large stomach the treasure of Vedic knowledge
Digests all good and bad in life

Large trunk can pick up a small needle from the ground
Also can uproot a huge tree
Indicates high efficiency and adaptability to achieve success

Broken tusk, the symbol of sacrifice for a cause
Retain positive, throw away negative is the aim
Single tusk, the ability to overcome all forms of duality
He wrote the epic with his broken tusk
The Ivory tusk is valuable
Like your commitments
Operate from commitments
Not from likes and dislikes

Ganesha stands with one leg raised up in the air
The other touches the earth
Symble of both spiritual and material worlds
Be a part of both to make yourself whole, the real role

The four arms represent four inner attributes of the subtle mind
Mind, intellect, ego and the conditioned consciousness
Ganesha represents pure consciousness
Thus enables the four attributes to function in us

Hands holding tools
Axes and swords and bows
A small axe in his hands
A tool to cut away desires and fatuations
The elephant goad, his fierce weapon
Removes obstacles from the path of his devotees
A rope in hand
To pull devotees to the highest goal
Rope also symbolises his gentle restraint of the mind
The devotees are pulled closure to spiritual path

Trishul on the forehead symbolises lord’s mastery over past present and future
The lord of all groups of atoms
And energies is the lord Ganesha

Fat Ganesha rides the tiny mouse
Antiracist, his companion is the tiny mouse
Mouse at the feet of Lord
Waiting for the orders of his master
Mouse is likened to desires
Desires should be one’s servant, not masters

God of knowledge, prosperity and wisdom Invoked at the beginning of new adventure
Hurdle remover, saviour and protector
Ego remover, Simple, so pure
Gate keeper at all temples of Shiva, his father
You are present every where
Dear lord Ganesha

Laddu, your favourite dish
And a variety of fruits, your food
All this indicates the prosperity you bestow on all
You save earth from the fury of nature
Mother Earth rejuvenates by your grace
