What age do wives cheat the most?
What age do wives cheat the most?
If you do a search for “at what age do most people cheat in a serious relationship”, you will discover that the concept of the "seven-year itch" is more of a popular cultural myth than a rigid scientific fact. Marital satisfaction specifically plummets and divorce likelihood peaks around the nine-year mark not seven. It is known as the "End of Decade" phenomenon.
Based on research, infidelity in serious relationships often peaks during transitional, "danger" ages ending in 9, example at age of 29 or 39 or 49. Women are more likely to report cheating in their 30s-60s. It peaks from age 35-39 or 50-69. Men are more likely to cheat in their 50s-70s, specifically, at ages 40-44, 50-59, or 60-69, depending on the study.
According to the General Social Survey, approximately 20% of men report infidelity compared to 13% of women. Among millennials, the gender gap is narrowing, with 13% of women and 15.9% of men admitting to cheating.
The infidelity rate by women is increasing because they have more financial independence and opportunities for extramarital connections. Studies suggest they also feel more comfortable admitting infidelity compared to past generations. Men typically cheat for physical or sexual variety, while women are more likely to cheat due to emotional dissatisfaction in their relationship.
