Why did Shri Krishna make Draupadi Swayamvar easier for Arjuna?
Why did Shri Krishna make Draupadi Swayamvar easier for Arjuna?
As per modern narratives, Arjuna was a spoon fed kid, who was served everything in platter. He never fought any war, and even if he did it, I am sure people may even come up with new narratives like - it was Krishna who disguised himself as Arjuna to win wars like the Gandharva war, Virata war. All because he wanted to glorify Arjuna as the hero.
Lately, it has become a trend and a sole agenda of few cult of audience to downplay Arjuna's talent, his victory by either terming it as taken in truce from someone or won due to his weapon or because he had Shri Krishna by his side.
The latest in this bandwagon of fallacies is - Shri Krishna made Draupadi Swayamwar easy for Arjuna. Why not say, Shri Krishna by his Maya, assisted Arjuna lift the bow and trickly made the arrow hit the target or made it appear as if the target was hit?
So was the swayamwar made easier for Arjuna by Krishna?
Well, the answer is a big NO. For all those who have genuinely read the text without bias will know Shri Krishna was never even minutely involved in the swayamwar win of Arjuna.
Shri Krishna was part of swayamwar, although he did not take part in the competition.
Arjuna never met Shri Krishna before the swayamwar. Neither did Shri Krishna meet Arjuna before the swayamwar or behind the scene to give him idea.
Drupad himself wanted Kirti (Arjuna) to be his son-in-law and thus was the competition arranged which was in par with Arjuna's capabilities and skills.
Arjuna did not raise from midst of audience until all other warriors or participants per se failed to string the bow or hit the target.
The bow named Kindhura was chosen for the swayamwar. The participant had to shoot the target through the machine using five arrows.
Arjuna stood after all others had failed. He lifted the bow, strung it and hit the target using five arrows and won Draupadi's hand.
Now do you think Shri Krishna magically made the arrows hit the target and Arjuna just acted to string the bow?
Shri Krishna never had any role to play in Arjuna's win in the swayamwar. Neither did he help Drupad set such a competition that is apt for Arjuna, neither did he meet Draupadi before swayamwar, so there is no question of him revealing about Arjuna’s existence.
Shri Krishna himself recognised the Pandavas only during the swayamvar and is seen telling Balarama about Pandavas possible safe escape from the Varnavrat fire. Thus as he himself saw them at the swayamwar, how do you think he will give idea to Draupadi how Arjuna looked or to Drupad? Do not believe what SP Mahabharat portrayed.
In short, let us not downplay Arjuna for his skills. He was an able warrior who was looked upon by many. He won many battles by his prowess, and the same skill was the reason he won swayamwar too.
