According to Bhishma in the Mahabharata, was Karna considered a better archer than Arjuna? Bhishma never considered Karna as better archer. His statements throughout prove the fact.His only statement in favour of Karna happened when Karna came to him after he fell on arrow bed. Whatever he said to Karna in praise when the latter met him after his fall was done on purpose to try and stop the destruction of Kuru clan. Even then he did not say Karna is a better archer. He excepted Arjuna and Krishna in his expression referring to Karna’s praise as per Bori but actual translation of the verse show him similar to Krishna and Arjuna since he used the word sadRRishaH. iShvastre bhArasandhAne lAghave.astrabale tathA | sadRRishaH phalgunenAsi kRRiShNena cha mahAtmanA || 14| |In the use of arrows, in aiming at a target, in dexterity and in the strength of your weapons, there is no one like you, with the exception of Phalguna and the great-souled Krishna.
