Who is better warrior Abhimanyu or Bhagadatta?
Bhagadatta is far more powerful than Abhimanyu. Whenever Bhagadatta took control of the field, he was basically unstoppable..
He crushed Bhima on 4th day, defeated and forced Ghatotkacha to flee from the field on 7th day, Thrashed a massive group attack lead by Bhima , Abhimanyu , Ghatotkacha and others on 8th day, and brutally destroyed and even bigger group attack including above mentioned warriors on 12th day. Arjuna arrived there immediately to save the lives of these warriors. He was the best elephant warrior in the field, and his elephant Supratika too was a formidable force on the field wreaking destruction in its path.
He is one of the few unique warriors to experience minimal defeats—by Bhima, Ghatotkacha, and Arjuna during the Kurukshetra war and twice before it: once by Arjuna (which was technically a stalemate that led to an alliance) and once by Karna, while remaining undefeated to the likes of Satyaki and Abhimanyu despite them attacking him in groups multiple times.
He was deprived of all his weapons before getting killed, ie defenseless (armed with a broken Bow).. As per gita press translation, Bhagadatta was so aged that his eyebrows were hanging over his eyes, blocking his sight. To remedy this, he had to secure a silk cloth around his forehead. Arjuna severed this cloth, rendering Bhagadatta blind before killing him.
His most formidable weapon, the Vaishnavastra, empowered by Vishnu’s boon, made him invincible when invoked. With this weapon, he would have killed Arjuna if Krishna hadn't intervened to block it. In terms of both martial skills and celestial weapons, Bhagadatta would mop the floor with Abhimanyu any day despite being weakened by age, having already done so twice that too in a group assault.
