Buddha

How did Gautama Buddha attain enlightenment just by meditating? Did anyone try to follow the same? Buddha didn’t “just meditate”. Buddha gave up power, position, influence, wealth. Buddha walked away from a life of riches and comforts. Buddha walked away from family, from his wife and a child. Buddha became an ascetic and for many years lived in the wild, subsisting on whatever he could find or beg. Buddha devoted his life completely and entirely to realizing enlightenment. He let go of everything, he gave away everything that could distract him from his pursuit. Buddha searched for enlightenment with a complete, absolute devotion, with total, singleminded focus. He did all that before he spent a night sitting underneath a tree and seeing what he saw. Did anyone try to do the same?
