READINESS TO SERVE OTHERS

 READINESS TO SERVE OTHERS

. . . our Society has concluded

that it has but one high mission —

to carry the A.A. message to those

who don’t know there’s a way out.

TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 151

The “Light” to freedom shines bright

 on my fellow alcoholics

as each one of us challenges the other to grow.

The “Steps” to self-improvement

have small beginnings,

but each Step builds the “ladder”

out of the pit of despair to new hope.

Honesty becomes my “tool”

to unfurl the “chains” which bound me.

A sponsor, who is a caring listener,

can help me to truly hear the message

 guiding me to freedom.

I ask God for the courage to live in such a way

that the Fellowship may be a testimony to His favor.

This mission frees me to share my gifts of wellness

through a spirit of readiness to serve others.

Built by the One and the Many

We give thanks to our Heavenly Father,

who, through so many friends

and through so many means and channels,

has allowed us to construct this wonderful edifice

of the spirit in which we are now dwelling --

this cathedral whose foundations already rest

upon the corners of the earth.

On its great floor we have inscribed

 our Twelve Steps of recovery.

On the side walls,

the buttresses of the AA Traditions

have been set in place to contain us in unity

for as long as God may will it so.

Eager hearts and hands have lifted

the spire of our cathedral into its place.

That spire bears the name of Service.

May it ever point straight upward toward God.

"It's not only to the few that we owe

the remarkable developments

in our unity and in our ability

to carry A.A.'s message everywhere.

It is to the many; indeed,

it is to the labors of all of us

that we owe these prime blessings."

It is extraordinary

how extraordinary the ordinary person is.

—George F. Will

At our meetings, we often hear stories of the courage

of ordinary people and their triumph against great odds.

When we hear of a person's life being restored,

we are witnesses to miracles.

Our friends are heroes and so are we.

As a man describes his passage

from insanity to recovery, we are moved.

Whenever we are truly open

to knowing the people around us,

whether at a meeting or in getting to know a neighbor,

we will see heroism.

It is amazing that when we get to know most people,

and hear what their lives have been like,

we find so much to admire and respect.

It is a privilege to have such friends.

It is amazing that they are so abundant

when we open ourselves to them.

God truly does speak to us through others.

I am grateful when I think about

the extraordinary people around me

and the courage in each of them.

I am grateful to be among them.

THE FOURTH MAN

 THE FOURTH MAN

May 31

When Nebuchadnezzar sent out his decree

that everyone in his kingdom should bow down

and worship the golden image that he had erected,

there were three men who refused to obey.

These were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego;

Hebrew officials in the province of Babylon.

Nebuchadnezzar called them before him,

and they bluntly told the King that their God

would deliver them from the fiery furnace

to which they would be consigned,

but even if God did not deliver them,

would still serve Him and Him alone.

Nebuchadnezzar had the three men

 thrust into the fiery furnace

and the heat was so intense

that it slew the guards who threw them in.

Then as he looked in upon the three faithful Hebrews,

Nebuchadnezzar was astonished to find

a fourth man walking in the flames with the other, three.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

walked out of the fiery furnace

without blemish or scar.

So, it is when we hold steadfastly to God,

and give all power to Him.

He sends his messenger

to deliver us from our furnace of fear and frustration.

Then do we know

that nothing shall by any means harm us.

“Blessed be the God of Shadrach,

Meshach, and Abednego,

who hath sent his angel,

and delivered his servants

that trusted in him”

Daniel 3:28

there is no one like Hazara singh ! As a child I won’t stop playing record disc of his guitar music again and again !

Mechanical engineering runs in the blood of Sikhs. Read below. Only a genius Sikh could do this !

Hats off to to Sardar Hazara singh !

Trivia about him ! 👇

Hazara Singh’s initial exposure to musical instruments was as a mechanic. As such, he was always very keen to experiment with the different technical aspects of the construction of the instrument to innovate the sound it would be able to create. His experimented with creating a ‘double-necked’ guitar. That guitar had two necks and fretboards joined together, each one having six strings. Hazara Singh would use this guitar to create a very different effect.

GURU KOH HALKEH MEIN MAT LOH !

Once, 4 students of I.I.T., Mumbai were playing cards till late night and could not study for the test which was scheduled for the next day.

In the morning they thought of a plan.

They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tyre of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test.

The Dean said they could have the re-test after 3 days. They thanked him and said they would be ready by that time.

On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said that as this was a _Special Condition Test_, all four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test.

They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days.

The Test consisted of only 2 questions with a total of 100 Marks

The questions were :

Did Arjuna and Karna ever meet after discovering they were half-brothers?

Did Arjuna and Karna ever meet after discovering they were half-brothers?

The rivalry between Karna and Arjuna is the most iconic thing in the hindu epic Mahabharat while these two warriors are the most popular figures from the epic and had a mutual hatred for each other in reality these two were born from the same mother but this fact was unknown to both of them until in the KARNA-UPANIVADA PARVA it was revealed that Karna knew about his past of being pandu's son

He told this fact when Krishna and Kunti went to him and tried to persuade him into joining the pandava's but Karna refused to do so and said the following

I have been born a kshatriya, but I did not obtain the rites that were due to a kshatriya. All this was because of you. What wicked enemy could have done anything worse? You showed me no compassion at the time when it was required. You deprived me of my rites. But you are now asking me to act. Earlier, you have never sought my welfare as a mother. However, desiring your own welfare alone, you have now come to me and are addressing me. Who does not suffer when Dhananjaya is aided by Krishna? If I now go over to the Parthas, who will not think that I am frightened? I have not been known as their brother before. This has been revealed at the time of the battle. If I go to the Pandavas, who will speak of me as a kshatriya? The sons of Dhritarashtra have given me a share in every object of desire. They have honoured me and given me every kind of happiness. How can I act counter to that now? They have always served me and have always bowed down before me, like the Vasus before Vasava. They now confront a feud with an enemy. They think that with my life, they can withstand the enemies. How can I act against the desire that is there in their minds? Using me as a boat, they wish to cross over to the other shore of this shoreless and impassable war. How can I abandon them? For those who have earned a living from the sons of Dhritarashtra, the time has arrived. I must devote myself to that task, even if there is a risk to my life. There are those who are satiated and treated well. But when the time arrives for a task, these wicked ones are ungrateful and act counter to what should be done. They are faithless towards the king. They are servants who steal the ancestral offerings of their master. These evil acting ones do not obtain this world, or the next. In the cause of Dhritarashtra’s son, I will fight with your sons. I will use all my strength and my power. I will not lie to you. I will seek to abide by the conduct of a non-violent and truthful person. But even if they are beneficial, I will not act in accordance with your words now. However, your appeal to me will not be fruitless. Though I can counter and kill them, I will not kill all of your sons in battle—Yudhishthira, Bhima and the twins, everyone other than Arjuna.

karna told kunti that he was born as a kshtriya but due to kunti he was deprived of the position that he deserved he futher stated that the son of Dhistarastra had given him everything and now he can't betray them and also here only he told kunti that her wish from karna will be fruitful as apart from from Arjuna he will not kill any of her sons

here we can know that karna was aware of his reality but this fact was unknown to any of the other pandava brother and it was revealed after the death of karna in the stri parva

This scene in T.V serials is shown as after knowing the reality all of pandava brother were sobbing in grief that they have killed their own brother and also in starplus they go all the way out and show that Karna is having an arrow pierced in his heart but is still saying some emotion dialogue like it is a bollywood movie or something

Let us see what was the reality

All the Pandavas heard these unpleasant words spoken by their mother. They sorrowed over Karna and became even more distressed

If we take a look into the stri parva of the epic we will find out that though the all of the pandavas were filled with grief but none except the son of dharma was the one who really sobbed and yes karna was not saying anything he was dead

But this sorrow, that touches us now, is a hundred times greater than that. Sorrowing over Karna, it is as if I am being consumed by a fire. There is nothing that we could not have obtained, not even something that is in heaven. This fierce destruction that has enveloped the Kurus would not have occurred.

This is how dharmaraj showed his sadness over karna and expect him none of pandavas really did anything upon the death of karna

And yes yudhistra never cursed the women race cause kunti held didn't told him about karna being their brother that's just a folktale

so the answer to this question is that no arjuna and karna never met each other as brother(karna knew this fact but saw arjuna as an enemy) and I think even if they did knew the truth their rivalry would have continued as in the past they both have developed a fair amount of hate in each other's heart(that's just my opinion as this never happened in the epic I can't be sure about it do tell you opinions also)

Before I leave it was yudhistra only who performed the last rites of karna

It was not Duryodhan nor Krishna it was yudhistra who did it

All the men and women there, on both his sides, cried violently as he performed the water-rites. Out of affection for his brother, Yudhishthira, the wise lord of the Kurus, had Karna’s wives, attired in their garments, brought there. Then, with them, the one with dharma in his soul performed the funeral rites. Having done this, with his senses in a whirl, he emerged from the waters of the Ganga.

May the blessings of Rama always be by your side

 ROUGH ROAD

Everyone on the spiritual path has found that

it happens occasionally in the early years—

and not often then—

that he suddenly finds himself

almost or quite unable to pray.

Often it seems that he cannot get any sense

 of contact with God.

This naturally depresses him and sometimes

leads to greater fear and almost to despair.

Now, these severe reactions are not necessary,

once you know that everyone goes through them.

This trouble is caused by overdoing.

You have been praying too long or too hard,

or you have been giving too much time

 to spiritual work exclusively,

instead of having other interests in your life too.

It is really a condition of staleness

 and psychological congestion.

The medieval mystics called these times

 "seasons of dryness"

and suffered severely

because they believed them to be sinful.

The remedy is not to struggle,

but to know that this dryness will surely pass,

and your spiritual joy return.

If you cannot pray, do not try, but think,

"God is so good that I need not pray;

he will take care of me anyway."

(Of course, this itself is a wonderful prayer.)

On a long motor tour, it sometimes happens

that you come upon a piece of rough, bad road.

For hundreds of miles the going has been perfect,

but now you are shaken and bumped badly,

 but you do not worry,

because you know for certain

that it will only last for a few miles.

Indeed, there is probably

a notice saying "Pavement ahead."

“weeping may endure for a night,

but joy cometh in the morning”

Psalm 30:5
