Rudra Puja

What is Rudra Puja?
Rudra Pooja is an ancient practice followed in India since time immemorial. ‘Rudra’ means ‘Shiva - the Benevolent',' the Auspicious'  ' the Destroyer of Evil'. 'Pooja' signifies  that which is born out of fullness. Through performing the  Pooja an individual , devotee or a seeker  can aspire  for attaining inner  peace and fulfillment. In this Pooja, Lord Shiva is worshipped in his Rudra form.
It is acknowledged  by all Vedic texts and  scriptures that Rudra Puja is one  of the most significant  Poojas to annihilate  all evils. It also assists in fulfilling   all our  desires. The Puja is also performed  for all-round prosperity. Scriptures on Astrology prescribe this  Puja to be performed  as a remedy against malevolent planetary positions.
Why should one participate in  Rudra Pooja?
The world is a play of energy which are  both  negative and positive. When we pray to Shiva – the Lord of transformation - the entire negative energy around us which could attain the  form of pestilence , depression, undesirable thoughts  and unhappiness gets transformed into peace, prosperity and joy. Then peace envelopes  us in body, mind and soul. And the devout truly becomes cheery and radiant.

How is the Pooja Performed?
This Pooja is performed by worshiping a   crystal 'linga'. Each ancient mantra that is chanted gets absorbed in  the ingredients  like curd, milk, ghee, honey etc. which are used as offerings during  the Pooja. It is then offered to Lord Shiva with reverence, love and gratitude. Pandits and Vedic students who hail  from the Veda Agama (Vedic school) perform this special Pooja. The chanting and incantation of  the mantras is pristine and pure and  also deeply meditative in nature  which transcends all barriers and  transports the devout  to a different plane, a different stratosphere, which is nothing but pure bliss.
The devout is in communion with the Divine where all  antipathetic  thoughts get  banished.
