Uttara

Uttara was the mother of future king of Hastinapur,Parikshit. She lived under the protective shade of Pandavas at Hastinapur.Subhadra who lost her son Abhimanyu stayed with Uttara and helped her nourish Parikshit. Uttara also visited Dhritarashtra,Gandhari and Kunti in the forest along with Pandavas and their wives. This lady whose complexion is as fair as that of heated gold and who sits with her child on her lap, is the daughter of king Virata. She is the wife of that Abhimanyu who, while divested of his car, was slain by Drona and others fighting from their cars. Ashramavasika parva Section XXV When Pandavas and Draupadi went on their final journey with Draupadi,Subhadra stayed back with Uttara to look after Parikshit by the instruction of Yudhishtira. Uttara’s son succeeded Yudhishtira and ruled Kuru kingdom for sixty years. Uttara was very young when she lost Abhimanyu on the thirteenth day of Kurukshetra battle. From then onwards she lived her life as the daughter in law of Pandavas and mother of Parikshit who was reborn due to Krishna’s grace. My answer is based on story of Parikshit.
