On 13th January is Lohri Celebrated in Punjab and we sing the song
Sunder Mundriye Ho Tere Kaun Bichara Ho, Dulha Bhatti Walla Ho, Dulhe Dhee Bheeyae, Ho Sher Shaker Pai Ho, Kudi da Shalu Pata Ho, Shalu kaun sameto Ho.
This is a real story during Akbars Time. In Pakistani Punjab around 60 KM south of Lahore, there was a village called Bhatti walla. The village Jaminder was called Dullah. During Akbar Period, Jaminder Called Mughals officials from Lahore Fort for his daughters wedding. During wedding ceremoney while dancing his daughter cloths were struck in the door and were torn. The Muslim officials after seeing his daughters body, got excited and tried to catch her. Dullah faught against the officials defeated them and send them back. Those officials got angry and next day send the full forces to capture the girl and their family but the villagers faught against them, defeated hundred of soldiers. This news went to Badshah Akbar and he thought of teaching Hindus lessons. He sent around 100000 Soldiers from Delhi and started with 10 soldiers directly to the village to see them. Those villagers of Bhatti Walla arrested Akbar, without knowing who he was and Akbar also pleaded ignorence about mughal Army and pleaded them as he was ordinary person. Villagers trusted him and freed him. In next few days Mughal Army arrived and killed and arrested most of the villegers.
Than this song became popular among Hindus. Dullah Bhatti wallah ho Dulhe di Dhee weaye Ho. I also did not know about this story but came to know about it few days back and writing it for all the Hindus to know the real story behind this song.
