According to the Rig Veda, there is only one ultimate reality, known as Brahman or the Supreme Being. The various deities in Hinduism are considered as manifestations or aspects of this one ultimate reality. Shiva and Vishnu are two prominent deities in Hinduism who represent different aspects of the Supreme Being.
Shiva is often associated with the aspect of destruction and transformation, while Vishnu is associated with preservation and protection. However, both are considered as equally important and revered in Hinduism.
It is important to note that the concept of a single, all-encompassing God in Hinduism is not the same as the monotheistic concept in Abrahamic religions, which emphasizes the exclusivity of one God over all others. In Hinduism, the various deities are seen as complementary aspects of the one ultimate reality, and worship of one deity does not preclude worship of others. Ultimately, the choice of which deity to worship is a matter of personal preference and spiritual inclination.
