 SIGNIFICANCE OF AKSHAYA TRITIYA


[Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akti or Akha Teej, is Annual spring time festival of the Hindus & Jains. It falls on the third Tithi (lunar day) of Bright Half (Shukla Paksha) of Vaisakha month as signifying the "Third day of unending Prosperity".

Lord Parashurama appeared on this day.

Ganga descended on Earth on this day.

Mahabharat war concluded on this day.

This day marks the beginning of Treta-Yuga.
Sudama visited his childhood friend Lord Sri Krishna at Dwaraka.

Pandavas received Akshaya Patra from Sun god on this day.

 


Veda Vyasa started composing Mahabharata along with Lord Ganesh on this day.

Adi Shankaracharya composed Kanakadhara Stotram on this day.
Kubera received his wealth and position as the custodian of wealth.

Goddess Annapurna Devi appeared on this day. 

The construction of the charitos for Ratha Yatra of Lord Sri Jagannatha begins on the day of Akshay Tritiya.

In the temple of Kshira-chora
Gopinatha (Remuna, Odisha) the deities of Madan-Mohan, Govinda and Gopinath are smeared with sandalwood pulp on this auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya.

Charan Darshan (lotus feet) of Lord Sri Banke Vihari in Vrindavan Dham happens on this day.

The word _Akshaya_ means, that which never diminishes, hence beginnings made or valuables bought on this day are considered auspicious enough to bring luck, auspiciousness and success. 

Whatever services offered to The Supreme Lord or His
devotees on this day receives manifold eternal benefits. Dana (donations) given today is said to give manifold results.

Chandan Yatra starts today, all deities are smeared in sandalwood paste.

The temples of Gangotri & Yamunotri re-open today.
