Mahabharata Story

Mahabharat story: Apart from Draupadi, Arjun also married three daughters. His two sons had died during the Mahabharata war. But one son did not participate in the Mahabharata war. The same son had killed Arjun after the war. Let us know why the son had killed Arjun and why Goddess Ganga started smiling after seeing Arjun dead? story of mahabharata This story is of the time when after conquering the Kauravas, the eldest Pandava Yudhishthir became the king of Hastinapur. A few days after becoming the king, Shri Krishna asked Yudhishthir to perform Ashvamedha Yagya. After that Yudhishthira started the Ashvamedha Yagya and the horse of the Yagya was released under the leadership of Arjuna. Wherever the horse went, Arjun followed him to protect him. The horse passed through many kingdoms where the kings accepted the subjugation of Hastinapur without fighting with Arjuna. The kingdom which stopped the horse of Ashwamedha Yagya was defeated by Arjun in the war and brought under Hastinapur. Babhruvahana, son of Arjuna After a few days, after passing through many states, the horse of Ashvamedha Yagya reached Manipur state. At that time, the king of Manipur was Babhruvahana, son of Arjun and Chitrangada. When Babhruvahan heard that his father Mahavir Arjun was coming to Manipur, he reached the border of the state to welcome his father. Then when Arjun reached the border of Manipur, Babhruvahana came to Arjun to welcome him, but Arjun stopped him. Arjun said to his son, I am not your father at this time but the representative of King Yudhishthir of Hastinapur. You are a Kshatriya and you should fight with me according to Kshatriya Dharma. If you do not want to fight, then accept the subordination of Hastinapur and let this horse move ahead. Battle of Babhruvahana and Arjuna At the same time, Arjun's second wife, the serpent girl Ulupi, arrived there and said to Babhruvahana, O son! You should fight with your father at this time while following the Kshatriya religion. If you do not do this, it will be considered an insult to the Kshatriya religion as well as your father. Hearing Ulupi's words, Babhruvahana got ready for war. After this, this fierce war continued between father and son for several days. When Babhruvahana saw that the war was yielding no results, he attacked his father with the divine arrow given to him by Kamakhya Devi. As soon as Kamakhya Devi's divine arrow hit him, Arjun's head got separated from his body. Shri Krishna reached Manipur Hearing the news of Arjun's death, Shri Krishna left for Manipur at that very moment. On the other hand, Goddess Kunti also came to Manipur after hearing about Arjun. When Shri Krishna reached Manipur, he saw that Goddess Ganga was laughing loudly sitting near the dead body of Arjun. Mother Kunti is mourning with Arjun's dead body in her lap. After some time, Goddess Ganga said to Kunti, Kunti, your son has got the fruits of his deeds. You are moaning in vain. My son Bhishma loved him more than life, yet your son killed my son by deceit. Today I have taken revenge from Arjun for the murder of my son. On my request, Goddess Kamakhya had given these divine arrows to Babhruvahana. Goddess Ganga and Shri Krishna Hearing the words of revenge from Goddess Ganga, Shri Krishna said, O Gange! From whom will you take revenge? How can you take revenge from a mother? Then Goddess Ganga said, O Krishna! You know that Arjuna had killed my son when he put down his bow after seeing Shikhandi. He was unarmed at that time. Now what wrong have I done by getting Arjun killed? Then Shri Krish said smilingly, O Gange! The grandfather himself had told Arjun the path to his death. If Arjun wanted, he could have stopped that divine arrow but he did not do so because he knew that the arrows fired by Babhruvahana were the divine arrows of Mother Kamakhya. Arjun got the gift of life After that Goddess Ganga said, O Vasudev! I made a big mistake, now you tell me how Arjun can be revived? After that Shri Krishna attached Arjun's head to his torso and brought Arjun back to life with the Nagamani kept near Ulupi
