Dear All,
I heard Vallabh Bhansali (Chairman of ENAM group) at the BSE event yesterday evening.
After talking about economy and markets, he got philosophical about how come he has been so lucky.
He broke down ingredients of 'luck' for us:
1. Most people pursue success. Very passionately and diligently. But success (more so in stock market context) is a random occurrence. And then, after putting loads of efforts (in your mind) if you don't get success (as you define it), you get frustrated.
So, he said, *pursue 'excellence' rather than success.*
Excellence is internal, excellence is guaranteed when you chase it well and you can definitely improve over time.
2. *Be grateful for what you have and consciously show that gratefulness*. This creates a positive, benevolent mindset rather than negative, cynical one.
Positive, thankful, optimistic mind drives luck far far better than an 'unhappy' one.
3. *Be helpful.* When you choose to be helpful, you choose positivity, action, improvement, contribution and a positive karmic cycle of good deeds.
