How many times did Lord Krishna save Arjuna from danger in the battle of Mahabharata?
During the battle at Kurukshetra, king Bhagadatta and Arjun combat each other. Pierced, king of Pragjyotisha, invokes mantras and hurl the Vaishnav weapon on the enemy. This was earlier with Naraka making him invincible. In an attempt to uphold and protect the virtuous on Earth, Vasudev had it diverted and received on his own chest.
King Jayadrath had a boon,
“ If you fellest Jayadrath’s head on the earth, your own head then, without doubt, will crack into a hundred fragments.” informed the charioteer.
Jayadrath Vadha Parva
Therefore after cutting his head, Arjun quickly hurled it on his father Vriddakshatra’s lap
Karna had traded his natural armour and earrings that made him invincible with Vasavi Shakti astra of Lord Indra. It would kill the most dreadful of enemies and return back to the original bearer. Karna intended to use on Arjun bringing a conclusive end to the battle, ensuring victory thus. Karna as against design had no choice but to use on Ghatotchaka, making it redundant.
Karna aimed the Ashvasena (serpent) affixed on his sharp and flaming arrow at his half brother, targeting his head. It was capable of slaying the enemy. It was from the lineage of Airavata and ignited with fury. Madhava saw it coming and with all his strength pressed down the chariot with his feet. The Pandav’s diadem got struck down, protecting his head hence.
