What is the story behind Lord Shiva obtaining Rudraksha from Vishnu and why does he wear it?
As far as I know, even though everything happens according to Lord Vishnu’s will and He is the ultimate Karta in ALL beings and universes, there was no specific involvement of Lord Vishnu in the story.
Once, Lord Shiva, who is a Param Yogi hence is always in a deep state of meditation was concentrated in his meditation. During his intense penance, drops of tears fell from Lord Shiva's eyes onto the ground, which later transformed into the Rudraksha trees. The Rudraksha trees produce fruits known as Rudraksha beads, and are believed to possess spiritual and healing properties.
As to why Lord Shiva wears them, he wears them because, they are a symbol of asceticism, Lord Shiva is revered as the ultimate ascetic who renounced worldly comforts and attachments in pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. Rudraksha beads originated from him hence symbolize renunciation, detachment, and austerity, qualities that resonate with Lord Shiva's ascetic nature explaining why he wears them.
Jai Bholenath Shiv Shankar!! Jai Deenabandhu Sreeman Narayan!!
