*Message from Param Pujya Gurudev :*
*Message from Param Pujya Gurudev :*
Beloved one,
Yes, the world seems to be going through waves of turbulence floods in Punjab, unrest in Nepal, wars in many corners of the globe. When the outside becomes so chaotic, it is a reminder to turn inward. Gurudev often says: “The storm outside can shake you only if there is no stillness within.”
This is why he has lovingly asked everyone to hold on to their sādhanā, their daily practice. Your meditation, your chanting, your breathing these are not small things. They are the very anchor that keeps the boat steady when the ocean is rough.
Remember, in times of calamity, fear and negativity can spread faster than floodwaters. But when even one person sits in deep meditation, the vibrations of peace ripple out and soothe the atmosphere. Imagine what happens when thousands come together in that same silence!
So don’t miss your practice for anything. Even a few minutes of chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” or sitting with your eyes closed in stillness can shift your energy, can heal your mind, and can uplift the collective consciousness.
Let the turmoil outside remind you to strengthen your roots inside. Be like the lamp that does not flicker, even when the wind is blowing strong. The world needs your peace, your smile, your centeredness more than ever.
*Do your sādhanā, and let the Divine take care of the rest*

READ IT – IT'S GREAT!
At a family gathering, a young man asked his parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents:
"How did you all live back then?"
• Without television
• Without Wi-Fi
• Without technology
• Without the internet
• Without computers
• Without drones
• Without Bitcoins
• Without cell phones
• Without Facebook
• Without Twitter
• Without YouTube
• Without WhatsApp
• Without Messenger
• Without Instagram
Then the grandfather spoke up and replied:
“You know, dear grandson…
Just like your generation lives today…
• Without prayers
• Without respect
• Without values
• Without personality
• Without a sense of duty
• Without inner life
• Without character
• Without spice
• Without ideals
• Without self-love
• Without humanity
• Without modesty
• Without virtues
• Without honor
• Without purpose
• Without that certain something
• Without essence
• Without direction
• Without identity – because many no longer even know whether they are male or female.
We, those born between 1920 and 1975, are blessed, and our lives are living proof:
After school, there was homework, then played outside!
We played with real friends – not virtual ones from the internet.
We often built our own toys and had fun with them.
Our parents weren't rich,
but they gave us and taught us love – not material or worldly values.
We didn't have cell phones, laptops, DVDs, PlayStations, Xboxes, video games, PCs, or the internet...
but we did have real friends.
Relatives lived nearby, so we could enjoy family time.
We may only appear in black and white photos,
but the memories are colorful and vivid.
We are a UNIQUE and MORE UNDERSTANDING GENERATION,
because we are the LAST to listen to our parents...
and the FIRST to have to listen to our children.
We are a LIMITED EDITION!
Enjoy, appreciate, and learn from yesterday.

“THE ELDESTS”
“We were born in the 40s, 50s and 60s.”
“We grew up in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.”
“We went to school in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.”
“We fell in love in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.”
“We got married and explored the world in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.”
“We ventured out in the 80s and 90s.”
“We found stability in the 2000s.”
“We grew wiser in the 2010s.”
“And we're still here—in 2025.”
We've lived through EIGHT decades…
TWO centuries…
TWO millennia…
From long-distance telephone switches to worldwide video calls.
From records to streaming services.
From handwritten letters to emails and WhatsApp.
From radio commentary during football matches to black-and-white TV, and later to HD television.
We used to go to the video store – today we watch Netflix.
We experienced the first computers, punch cards, floppy disks –
and today we carry gigabytes and megabytes in our pockets – on our cell phones or tablets.
We wore shorts as children, later long trousers, Oxfords, Bermuda shorts, and much more.
We survived polio, meningitis, the H1N1 flu, and now COVID-19.
Yes, we've been through a lot,
but what great lives we've had!
You could call us "survivors."
People born in the world of the 1950s,
experienced an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.
We're a kind of "I've seen it all."
Our generation has experienced and seen more than any other –
in every dimension of life.
We are the generation that has truly adapted to the world.
A big round of applause to all members of a very special generation,
that will forever remain UNIQUE.

A beautiful and very true message I received from a friend.
I hope you take the time to read it and then share it…
…or you put it off –
and find yourself never sharing it!

Always friends
Did Karna attack the unarmed Abhimanyu?
Did Karna attack the unarmed Abhimanyu?
During the battle at Kurukshetra, Abhimanyu was sent to penetrate the Chakra-Vyuha created by Drona and counter him.
It was only his father Arjuna, Pradyumna and uncle Vasudev who had the skill and they were distracted by the Kurus elsewhere. Other warriors along with Bhima, Satyaki, Panchalas, Kekayas, the Matyas followed to protect him since he did not have the knowledge to exit the vyuha.
Once inside the Chakravyuha, Arjun’s son fought bravely single handed. Other warriors out to aid him were not allowed to enter by king Jayadrath.
Karna was revered by the Kauravs. He left no stone unturned to oppress his nephew. Abhimanyu too afflicted his uncle with sharp tufted arrows.
“ He exhibited his supreme weapons and pierced Subhadra’s son with hundreds of arrows.”
Arjun’s son inflicted him back with weapons sharpened on stone to sever bows of heroes.
“ Vaikartana Karna used his arrows to swiftly slice down the bow of the light handed one “
and supreme shield while Drona severed the sword. Bhoja killed the horses and Kripa the charioteers.
Karna along with Drona, Ashwathamma, Brihadbala, Kripa, Duryodhan, Kritavarma and Shakuni in unison showered arrows on the child warrior relentlessly while he fought single handedly.
He died countering Dushassana’s son when stuck by his club on the head.

🙏🏼 Good Morning 🌄
🙏🏼 Good Morning 🌄
I’m 75 now. These days, mornings are quiet—just me, a cup of tea, and the park down the road. I sit on the same wooden bench every day, watching joggers rush by, parents push strollers, kids chasing pigeons. Life keeps moving, even when you feel like you’ve slowed down.
One morning, I noticed a boy—maybe 16—sitting alone at the far end of the bench. Shoulders slumped, hoodie pulled tight, staring at the ground like the world had forgotten him. I know that look. I wore it once, years ago, when life felt too heavy.
I didn’t want to scare him off, so I asked softly, “What’s one good thing about today?”
He blinked, surprised. “What?”
“Anything at all,” I said. “The sky, a song you heard, something small that made today not all bad.”
He thought for a moment. Then, quietly: “My sister saved me the last cookie this morning. Said she wanted me to have it.”
A tiny smile tugged at his face. Not much, but enough to crack the gray around him. “That’s a good thing,” I said, nodding. He left soon after, but when he glanced back, his eyes weren’t as heavy.
The next day, he sat closer. And when a woman with grocery bags shuffled past us, he piped up: “Ma’am, what’s one good thing about your day?” She laughed, surprised. “Well, I found strawberries on sale.” The boy grinned.
It became a thing. People passing by began stopping for a minute on my bench. A man said, “The bus was on time!” A young girl said, “I made a new friend at school.” A grandmother said, “My knees didn’t ache this morning.” Simple, ordinary things—but the kind that remind you life still has sweetness tucked in its corners.
Soon, folks started calling it The Bench Question. Strangers came not just to rest their feet, but to share their “one good thing.”
Someone brought a notebook, leaving it on the bench so people could write their answers. Within weeks, the pages were filled:
💌 “My daughter called after months.”
💌 “The sunset looked like cotton candy.”
💌 “I’m learning to smile again.”
And here’s the truth I learned: happiness doesn’t come from fixing everything. Sometimes it’s just about noticing the smallest good thing in the middle of an ordinary day.
The boy still visits. He doesn’t hunch anymore. He sits tall, asks every passerby the question. Sometimes, he even brings cookies to share.
Life isn’t always easy. But maybe the secret isn’t chasing big joys—it’s learning to hold on to the little ones. One bench. One question. One good thing at a time.
So, let me ask you now: What’s one good thing about your day?
In 325 BC, Alexander
In 325 BC, Alexander the Great led his army into the desert between India and the Persian Gulf. The famous Macedonian leader hoped to easily reach the central regions of the Empire, but the march turned out to be more difficult than expected.
The lack of food and water began to weigh on the soldiers, who also suffered from the heat and the boiling sand, so much so that some began to perish under the scorching desert sun. The historian Arrian recounts: "Alexander himself, gripped by thirst, led the troops with great pain and difficulty and yet on foot; so too the other soldiers, as usually happens in similar circumstances, tolerated the fatigue better given the same suffering. In the meantime, some lightly armed men, who had moved away from the army in search of water, found it collected in a shallow cavity, a modest and unknown spring. Having taken it without difficulty, they ran to Alexander, as if they were carrying something precious. Then they poured the water into a helmet and gave it to the king. He took it and thanked those who had brought it, but then spilled it in front of everyone. After this, the entire army regained courage to the point of making it seem as if the water poured by Alexander had been drunk by everyone".
Thus Alexander the Great, thanks also to his leadership spirit, finally managed to lead his men out of the desert.
Balarama visits Pandavas
Balarama visits Pandavas' camp, before start of the war, and could foresaw the victory of the Pandavas, but did not visit Duryodhana. What were the reasons for Balarama not visiting Duryodhana, though he could foresaw the victory of the Pandavas?
Balarama would have known that Duryodhana was not going to stop the war just because he said so.
Duryodhana had earlier met Balarama in Dwaraka and knowing Duryodhana well, Balarama had given him permission to fight the war
O descendant of the Kuru lineage! It is for your sake that I sought to restrain Hrishikesha. O king! I said repeatedly that my relationship with both of you was equal. But Keshava did not accept the words that I had spoken. I cannot exist for an instant without Krishna. I will come to the aid of neither Partha, nor Duryodhana. After looking towards Vasudeva, this is the decision I have arrived at. You have been born in the Bharata lineage, one that is honoured by all the lords of the earth. O bull among the Bharata lineage! Go and fight in accordance with the Dharma of Kshatriyas.
7, Udyoga parva, Mahabharata.
The reason Balarama believed that Pandava victory was certain was because Krishna was with them. This was already the case when Balarama had given permission to Duryodhana to wage war. If he knew he could stop Duryodhana, then he would have tried then itself. The fact that he didn't means Balarama knew that Duryodhana won't refrain from war just because of his words.
While taxiing at London Gatwick Airport
While taxiing at London Gatwick Airport, the crew of a US Air flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air crew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going?! I told you to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta! Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between C and D, but get it right!"
Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now shouting hysterically: "God! Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour and I want you to go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air 2771?"
"Yes, ma'am," the cowed crew responded. Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771. Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground controller in her current state of mind. Tension in every cockpit out in Gatwick was definitely running high.
Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: “You sound familiar… wasn't I married to you once?"

Ravana was the biggest devotee of Lord Shiva.
Ravana was the biggest devotee of Lord Shiva. Then why didn't lord Shiva help him in the war?
Ravana was never a devotee of Lord Shiva. He always worshiped Lord Brahma for getting boons. According to Valmiki Ramayan, Lord Shiva pressing Mount Kailash on his toes and Ravana getting struck is not present. Ravana getting Chandrahas sword from Lord Shiva is also not present.
Lord Shiva never supported any evil deeds of Ravana. Infact he congratulated Rama for accomplishing the task of eliminating Ravana. These were the words of Lord Shiva to Rama:
"O lotus-eyed, long-armed, broad-chested, annihilator of enemies and excellent among those upholding the cause of virtue! Thank heaven! You accomplished this task."
"Fortunately has the fear born of Ravana - which increased the severe darkness on the entire world has been removed by you, on the battle-field, O Rama!" [1]
On the other hand, Lord Shiva never fails to protects his devotees who follows the path of Dharma. When Yama tried to take the life of Markandeya who was very young, Lord Shiva came out of Shiva Linga and killed Yama for troubling Markandeya. Later on request of gods, Yama’s life was restored.
What is the story of Lord Vishnu holding Trishula and Lord Shiva holding Sudarshana Chakra?
What is the story of Lord Vishnu holding Trishula and Lord Shiva holding Sudarshana Chakra?
Once Narada asked sage Pulastya why Lord Vishnu and Shiva exchanged their weapons. Sage Pulastya recited the story that was once told by Lord Vishnu to Manu. In ancient times, there was a demon king named Jalodbhava. Jalodbhava pleased Lord Brahma with his penance and got a boon that specific weapons of gods will fail against him, sages cannot curse him, fire and water cannot harm him. Having obtained these boons, Jalodbhava started to rule entire earth out of cruelty.
The gods took birth on earth and and then took Jalodbhava to Vaikunta. Lord Vishnu then went with Jalodbhava and the gods to Kailasa. A meeting was held there on the strategy to kill this demon. Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva exchanged their weapons immediately since Jalodbhava had a boon that gods cannot use their specific weapons to kill him. When Jalodbhava saw the two gods marching towards him, he immediately escaped from the place and went to bottom of a river. When Lord Vishnu and Shiva saw the demon hiding under river, they both hide them on both banks of that river.
Jalodbhava came out of the water thinking that both Lord Vishnu and Shiva might have gone from there. Jalodbhava, with fear started looking on all sides and then decided to climb Himalaya. Lord Vishnu with trident and Lord Shiva with Sudharshana rushed towards the demon when they saw him climbing the mountain. Lord Vishnu threw the trident and Lord Shiva released the Sudharshana simultaneously towards Jalodbhava. Jalodbhava who was having golden complexion fell down from the mountain like a white star falling from the sky.
Narada said- kindly, tell me that why had Śiva held Sudarśana and Vasudeva the Śula there?
There was one mighty king of demons called Jalodbhava (water-bom). That mighty demon worshipped god Brahma with observing terrific penance. Brahma pleased and endowed him with powers defeating all gods and demons. It was said that the specific weapons of gods too shall fail to put any harm to him. The curse thundered by hermits known to Brahma shall even prove futile and the fire and water shall do not harm to him.
That demon having these specific powers then began ruling on earth. He put in pain all gods, hermits and kings too. That cruel demon had destroyed all benevolent activities.
The gods then took birth on the earth took the kings in their company and went to the supreme regulating authority god Visnu. God too went With them at Himalaya where Hara was existed.
A meeting arranged there and strategy stated for killing that enemy as it was only benevolent project for gods and hermits. Both gods then exchanged their weapons immediately.
When that wicked demon saw the god of gods Sankara and Visnu marching forward of attack, considering them undefeated. The demon entered into the bottom of river with a fright.
When Saiikara and Visnu saw the demon hidden in huge and holy river Madhumafi, they suddenly hide on the both banks of that river.
Jalodbhava came up from the water considering Satikara and Visnu returned till then. He cautiously started looking all sides with fear and thus, climbed on the ridge of inaccessible Himñlaya.
Visnu with trident and Satikara with discus rushed fast towards every when they saw him climbing on the ridge of the mountain.
They hit hard on his body by throwing discus and trident simultaneously. That demon having golden complexion fell down from the mountain like a white star falling from the sky.
Visnu had thus, held trident while Saiikara had held discus for killing their enemy Jalodbhida. The foot print of Siva on Himilaya began emanating the river Vitasta just then.
Was Lord Rama a non-vegetarian?
Was Lord Rama a non-vegetarian?
So many have given detailed answers claiming the same so I won't repeat, instead would like to point out propaganda of certain Hindu institutions to whitewash this stuff.
Basically Ram was non vegetarian.
स लक्ष्मणः कृष्ण मृगम् हत्वा मेध्यम् पतापवान् |
अथ चिक्षेप सौमित्रिः समिद्धे जात वेदसि
Now in the above shlok, the following words, कृष्ण मृगम् हत्वा . I don't think it needs any elaboration nor need any sankrit knowledge to get the fact..
Krishna - black, Mrgam - animal, Hatva - Killed.
The amount of copium some institutions smokes to twist these words is simply hilarious. Gita press translated it as root bulb of a tree or something. Lmaoo.
It'd have been better, had they claimed this shlok to be an interpolation, but have given a baseless nonsensicsl translation to hide the real fact.
Here's the full context.
Rama spoke the following words to Lakshmana who listened to his command and who was closely attentive to him: "Oh, Lakshmana! Bring the meat of an antelope. We shall perform a purifactory ceremony while entering the house, which is to be done by those who wish to live long. Oh, large-eyed Lakshmana! Killing the antelope quickly bring it here. The prescribed rite according to scriptural point of view indeed is to be performed. Keep in mind the sacred obligation."
Lakshmana the slayer of enemies, understanding his brother's words, acted as instructed. Rama spoke again to Lakshmana as follows.
"Oh, gentle brother! Boil this antelope's meat. We shall worship the leaf-hut. This day and this instant also are of a distinctive character. Be quick."
Then, Lakshmana the strong man and son of Sumitra, killing a holy black antelope, tossed it in an ignited fire. Feeling certain that it is cooked and heated thoroughly with no blood remaining, Lakshmana spoke to Rama the lion among men as follows: "This black antelope, with its complete limbs, has been cooked completely by me. Oh, Rama resembling God! Worship the concerned deity, as you are skilled in that act." Rama, the virtuous man and the learned man in chanting of sacred spells, after taking bath and with subdued mind, briefly chanted all the sacred scripts to be chanted at the end of a purifactory ceremony. Worshipping all classes of deities and getting himself purified, Rama entered the house.
There was a heartfelt joy in Rama, with his limitless splendour. Having taken bath in the river as prescribed Rama offered oblations to Lord Rudra and Lord Vishnu after offereing tributes to Vaisvadeva. He performed benedictions relating to the purification of house and also a silent prayer as per prescribed rites. He finally offered excellent tributes to the deities, for removing sins.
The above verse also clearly signifies Animal sacrifice was an integral part of ancient sacrificial customs.
Similarly all portion which refer words such as Mamsa or Medhyam refers to meat. Not fruit pulp , root bulb or any nonsense like that. you can claim it to be interpolations at best, but changing the whole meaning of words is something high level crackheads might do.
Non vegetarian and non violence all those stuff were Imbibed into later hindu texts from Jains and Buddhists who follows Hardcore Non violence. If I'm correct Jains won't even eat vegetarian stuff that might lead to death of a plant like onion, carrot, radish so and so.
Further, This statement of Arjuna from Mahabharat is enough to prove what the status of Non violence was back then.
Without slaughter, no man has been able to achieve fame in this world or acquire wealth or subjects. Indra himself, by the slaughter of Vritra, became the great Indra.
Those amongst the gods that are given to slaughtering others are adored much more by men. Rudra, Skanda, Sakra, Agni, Varuna, are all slaughterers. Kala and Mrityu and Vayu and Kuvera and Surya, the Vasus, the Maruts, the Sadhyas, and the Viswadevas, O Bharata, are all slaughterers. Humbled by their prowess, all people bend to those gods, but not to Brahman or Dhatri or Pushan at any time.
Only a few men that are noble of disposition adore in all their acts those among the gods that are equally disposed towards all creatures and that are self-restrained and peaceful.

The word wicked occurs
more than three hundred times in the Bible
and is one of the most important terms to be found therein.
In the Bible the word wicked really means
"bewitched" or "under a spell."
The Law of Being is perfect harmony,
and that truth never changes,
but man uses his free will to think wrongly,
and thus, he builds up false conditions around him,
and then believes them to be real.
They look real, and so he forgets
that it was he himself who made them,
and thus, he bewitches himself,
or throws himself under a kind of spell;
and of course, as long as he remains bewitched
he has to suffer the consequences.
Nevertheless, it is only illusion, or a spell,
and it can be broken by turning to God.
The only way to break such a spell is to think of God.
“O foolish Galatians,
who hath bewitched you. . .!”
(Galatians 3:1)
said Paul, when he heard that some of his students
had begun to believe evil in this way.
“The wicked flee when no man pursueth”
(Proverbs 28:1).
Let us awaken from the spell under which
the whole race lives,
and know instead that God is all Power,
infinite Intelligence, and boundless love.
“Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the Lord,
and he will have mercy upon him...”
Isaiah 55:7

Ravana’s greatest strength
Ravana’s greatest strength lies in his divine armor of Brahma and his extraordinary regenerative powers. Together, these made him virtually invincible even the gods, including Vishnu, could not bring him down. The Ramayana mentions that Vishnu hurled his Sudarshana Chakra at Ravana countless times, yet it could only inflict minor wounds, which were either absorbed by his armor or quickly healed by his regeneration.
He was struck hundreds of times during the wars with gods with the blows of Vishnu’s discus as also with the strokes of other weapons in great conflicts.
However, Ravana chose to keep certain marks as trophies of his battles such as the wound from Airavata, the scars left by Vishnu’s disc, and those from Indra’s Vajra.
Indra possessed the unique arrow crafted by Brahma, the only weapon capable of piercing Ravana’s armor and destroying his heart, instantly killing him and preventing any chance for regeneration. However he did not used it upon Ravana as it would violate Brahma's boon to him.
In the final battle between Rama and Ravana, the latter's armor and regenerative powers made it nearly impossible to defeat him. The only way to end his life was to strike his heart the source of his life in a single blow. For this, Rama employed the unique arrow gifted to him by Sage Agastya, which had originally been given to Agastya by Indra.
Vishnu' even if he possessed this arrow cannot use it as Brahma's boon would be violated in such a situation. But Ram had no such constraints. Although in human form he needed additional power like blessings of Sun god through aditya Hrdaya stotra, Bala - Atibala vidya which Vishwamitra imparted and most importantly this arrow which Agastya gave him foreseeing these events.

What would have happened if Karna had been able to kill Arjuna?
What would have happened if Karna had been able to kill Arjuna?
Arjuna got the same doubt and out of curiosity he asked the same question to lord Krishna.
Lord krishna stated :
Even if sun falls down from it’s place or the earth gets split up into 1000 fragments or the water in the ocean gets dried up or the fire gets cools down, Karna could never able to kill arjuna.
Karna had two divine weapons which he safely preserved to use against arjuna. One is vasavi shakti and another one is nagapasa astra.
Karna used vasavi Shakti against bhima's son ghatotkach as he seemed to be a threat against kauravas troops on the day 14th of war. When karna used nagapasa to kill arjuna, Krishna trickily lowers the chariot by putting his feet which ultimately leads the astra to take away arjuna's crown instead of arjuna’s head.
Speaking frankly, it’s nearly impossible to kill arjuna by karna or by anyone as he was under the protection of lord krishna.
Who are you Gurudev?
Question - Gurudev, My heartiest gratitude to you. Who are you Gurudev?
@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - First, you should know yourself. Why are you making an effort to know me? You don't know who you are. First, know how many times you have come in this world. When you know yourself, it will be very easy to know me. Shubh Ratri
Why didn't Bhishma kill Kansa if he was powerful in reality?
Why didn't Bhishma kill Kansa if he was powerful in reality?
Because there is no logical reason for Gāṅgéya Bhīṣma to fight or kill Kamsa. Kamsa was never a person who was extremely powerful in the first place. Kamsa did not even have the power to conquer empires or challenge Hastināpura.
Kamsa was not an enemy of Hastināpura, hence there was no need for Gāṅgéya Bhīṣma to either fight or slay him. Only a fool would make an enemy out of Hastināpura. Since Kamsa never made an enemy out of Hastināpura, there was no need for Gāṅgéya Bhīṣma to kill him. Gāṅgéya Bhīṣma is way above people like Kamsa.
Does India go around attacking their neighbouring countries just because our neighbours are bad to their own citizens?

FEAR
Around the Year with Emmet Fox
September 9
The Bible says that the fear of the Lord
is the beginning of wisdom,
the beginning of knowledge.
This has misled many people,
because the truth is that fear is entirely evil
and is indeed the only enemy we have.
You can heal any condition
if you can get rid of the fear attaching to it;
or sickness is nothing but subconscious fear
out-pictured in our surroundings.
It is true at all times that
"we have nothing to fear but fear."
How then do we account for the texts quoted?
The answer is that in the Bible
the fear of God means reverence for God,
fear in the usual sense of the word.
Reverence for God is the beginning of wisdom.
How do we show reverence for God?
seeing God everywhere;
refusing to recognize anything unlike Him;
and by living the Christ life.
Confidence is worship. You worship whatever you trust.
Are you trusting more in fear or in God?
Are you worshiping? That is the test.

At Mumbai’s Terminal 2 departure area,
At Mumbai’s Terminal 2 departure area, a car arrived, and a wheelchair was quickly brought out. Retired Wing Commander Ashok Ketkar was carefully transferred to the wheelchair. An airline attendant began pushing him toward the departure gate, triggering a flood of memories from his past.
While serving in the Air Force, Ashok had survived a plane crash but lost both his legs. A veteran of two wars, once soaring through the skies, he was now permanently bound to a wheelchair. However, every year, he traveled to Delhi to meet his old colleagues near India Gate for Republic Day celebrations, a tradition he had followed for years.
Yet, for the past few years, traveling to Delhi had become emotionally painful. His colleagues' children had respectable careers, many serving in the military or Air Force. In contrast, Ashok’s only daughter, Bhargavi, had abandoned her studies in her second year of college to marry a man whose terminally ill mother wished to see his wedding before she passed away. Despite Ashok and his wife’s strong objections, Bhargavi went ahead with the marriage, leading Ashok to cut ties with her. It had been five years since.
After completing check-in and security formalities, Ashok was escorted to the boarding gate. As per protocol, his wheelchair was brought in first, and he was seated in the front row. As the plane taxied to the runway, he looked outside and reminisced about his flying days. Overcome with emotion, his hands instinctively mimicked gripping a joystick. Tears streamed down his face.
Once the plane stabilized in the sky, Ashok requested water. A young boy approached him with a glass, surprising him. Just then, an announcement played over the speakers.
**Pilot's Announcement:**
"Dear passengers, welcome aboard Flight 6E 6028. Today, we have a very special guest—Retired Wing Commander Ashok Ketkar, seated in 1A. He heroically served India in two wars and played a crucial role in securing victories. Despite losing both legs in an accident, his fighter spirit remains unshaken. He lived by Air Force discipline, following orders even in his personal life. So much so that when his daughter married against his wishes, he severed ties with her. But a daughter never forgets her father...
Even after her marriage, Bhargavi continued to keep an eye on her father. After losing her mother-in-law shortly after marriage, she resumed her studies, graduated with top marks, and pursued a prestigious career. Today, despite going against her father’s wishes in marriage, she has fulfilled his dream for her career."
Ashok was stunned. The passengers listened intently. Then came another announcement.
**Pilot:**
"Baba, you always wanted to see me become a pilot. That was your dream, right? Well, today, your dream has come true. This flight is being piloted by none other than your beloved Bhargavi—the very daughter you are angry with. And the little boy who gave you water? That’s my son, Aditya—your grandson."
Ashok was overwhelmed with shock and joy. His tear-filled eyes looked at the boy, who smiled innocently. He picked Aditya up and hugged him tightly. Meanwhile, Bhargavi, holding a mic, walked toward him, tears streaming down her face.
**Bhargavi:**
"Baba, I’m sorry. I went against your wishes, but the circumstances left me no choice. And Baba, Rahul is a wonderful man—he now holds a high position in an MNC. We live in Delhi. When I heard from Mom that you were flying to Delhi today, I requested this flight assignment so I could see you. Baba, please forgive me. I am so proud of you. That’s why, today, as a commercial pilot, I salute you, a fighter pilot."
She stood at attention and saluted. The entire flight crew and passengers joined in. Then, she sat beside Ashok and hugged him, sobbing. Her tears soaked his shirt.
**Aditya:**
"Grandpa, I want to be a fighter pilot like you and serve my country! Mommy tells me your stories every day."
Hearing this, Ashok’s heart swelled with pride. Meanwhile, the co-pilot announced the plane’s descent. Bhargavi returned to the cockpit, and Ashok, now sitting beside Aditya, enthusiastically explained the landing procedures as the plane descended.
The golden sunset bathed three generations of pilots—one past, one present, and one future—in its warm glow. Though the plane was landing, Ashok Ketkar’s life had just taken off once again…
Toooooo Deeeeep Toooooo touching
Who trained Lord Parshuram?
Who trained Lord Parshuram?
Bhagwan Parshurama is one of the greatest warriors and teachers in Hinduism. He has taught warriors like Bhishma, Drona, Karna, Rukmi and Sarangadwaya and will be the future teacher of Kalki. It should be noted that Parshuram isn’t an ordinary warrior but an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and an immortal (Chiranjeevi). Parshuram killed Kartavirya Arjuna because he stole the Kamadhenu cow from his father, Jamdagni. Later when his father was killed by Kartavirya’s sons, he swore to wipe out the entire dynasty and killed the Kshatriyas 21 times filling 5 lakes with blood.
Parshuram possessed many weapons including the Pinaka Dhanush, Brahmastra and the Sudarshan Chakra. He had worshipped Lord Shiva in his childhood who gave him a Parshu (axe) naming him Parshuram. Mahadev personally trained him at his abode Kailash and gave him many weapons. Once, the two engaged in a battle where seeing Parshurama’s valour, Shiva granted Parshuram the element of Rudramsha, making him immortal.

Was the entire Narayani Sena killed? Why did Krishna give them to Duryodhana knowing they will be killed?
Was the entire Narayani Sena killed? Why did Krishna give them to Duryodhana knowing they will be killed?
Krishna wanted to destroy the Yadavas. The Yadavas had became too arrogant and had became a burden on earth. So he caused the Narayani sena to be destroyed in Kurukshetra war and then using the curses of Gandhari and Brahmanas caused the Yadus to kill each other at Prabhasa.
Krishna wanting to destroy the Yadavas is mentioned many times in the Mahabharata but Bhagavatam has the most detailed statement
Through their valour, courage and prosperity, this lineage of the Yadus wished to devour the world. But I have checked it, just as the shoreline holds back the great ocean. If I leave without destroying this insolent lineage of the Yadus, the world will be destroyed by their surging flow. Because of the curse of the brahmanas, the destruction of the lineage has now started. O Brahma! O unblemished one! When it is over, I will visit you in your residence.”
Chapter 6, 11th Skandha, Srimad Bhagavatam.
Destruction of Narayanas was the first step in the goal of eventually destruction of the Yadus.
During the kurukshetra war, Narayani sena became part of the large Samsaptaka army that attacked Arjuna. Arjuna slew all of them
There were those who were reared in Gokula. They were extremely well versed in fighting. Many thousands of them arrayed themselves as masses of samshaptakas. All of them approached Partha and went to Vaivasvata’s eternal abode.
1154 (4), Karna Vadha parva, Mahabharata.

What best describes Gurugram ; An excerpt from one of my friends
What best describes Gurugram ; An excerpt from one of my friends 👇
Gurgaon- a luxurious misery
Gurgaon is that rare city where a single apartment can cost you ₹100 crores, but the road outside it looks like it was designed by an enemy nation. Realtors promise “world-class connectivity,” but the only thing connecting here is your car’s suspension to your orthopedic bills.
This is a city that flaunts more Mercedes than Marutis, but the moment it rains, the same cars are reduced to crawling tractors, gasping in knee-deep sewage. The irony is stunning: German engineering meets Gurgaon engineering, and the winner is always the pothole.
Drainage? The Harappans had it figured out in 2600 BCE. Gurgaon in 2025 still hasn’t. One decent shower, and half the city drowns in sewage-infested water. The “stormwater drains” are clogged with plastic, garbage, and the dreams of taxpayers. Residents wade through black water holding their shoes in hand, while SUVs stall like dead cattle. The only creatures thriving are mosquitoes, multiplying faster than the excuses of the municipal corporation.
Garbage disposal? That exists only in textbooks. Here, waste lies on roads like permanent fixtures. Stray dogs rummage through it, cows decorate it, and humans step around it, pretending it’s not there. Every flyover corner is a dump yard, every empty plot a landfill, and every protest about it ends up… well, in the garbage.
Streetlights? Brilliant in the day, absent at night. You’ll find every pole glowing when the sun is out, but come evening, the city slips into pitch-black darkness. The only reliable source of light is the theka — whisky shops shine so brightly they put Gurgaon’s nightlife to shame. If it weren’t tragic, it would almost be poetic.
Manholes? They’re not covered, they’re death traps. People vanish into them during rains, strays get electrocuted by exposed wires, and yet no one blinks. Roads aren’t repaired, they’re patched like leaky buckets — a piece here, a patch there, until the whole thing cracks open again.
And yet, Gurgaon is the cash cow of Haryana, generating maximum state revenue. The towers rise higher, the cars get flashier, the malls get glossier — but the ground reality stays rotting. It’s the golden goose treated worse than a stepchild, milked for every rupee but denied even basic dignity.
The most tragic comedy of all? The people. Gurgaon has no shortage of bouncers ready to pick a fight outside pubs, but not one will stand up against civic neglect. Everyone complains, no one resists. The courage that erupts in parking lot brawls evaporates when faced with broken infrastructure.
So here we are: a city that sells you “luxury living” in brochures but delivers a survival course in real life. Gurgaon isn’t just a city — it’s a satire that writes itself every monsoon, every blackout, every broken road.
The tragedy isn’t just the crumbling roads or missing drains — it’s the silence of its people, who trade their right to dignity for the illusion of development. Gurgaon doesn’t need more skyscrapers; it needs a spine.
If Shiva and Vishnu were to engage in a duel, who would win?
If Shiva and Vishnu were to engage in a duel, who would win?
Logically say, if lord shiva want to kill or capture shri Vishnu then how could this possible. I mean, suppose lord shiva fired his trisul toward shri Vishnu and trisul penetrate the chest of lord vishnu then is trisul has power more than shri Vishnu so that this weapon can injure shri Vishnu. The answer is no.
Again, if shri Vishnu fired his sudershan chakra toward lord shiva then is sudershan chakra has power so that it can injure lord shiva. The answer is again no. There are no such weapons exist in the universe that can kill lord shiva and shri Vishnu. There is no way to kill them even if they want to kill themselves.
Conclusion :
If Shiva and Vishnu were to engage in a duel then no one would win because they are supreme to all the creation and fight will continue to infinity without any result.

"Read it completely, it will touch your heart"*
Guruji said to write an essay on mother's pallu.. So the student who wrote it wrote very well..."Read it completely, it will touch your heart"* 🥰
Respected Guruji...
The principle of mother's pallu was to give a dignified image to the mother.
Along with this... it was also used to hold the hot pot while removing it from the stove.
The pallu was unique.
A lot can be written on the pallu.
The pallu... was also used to wipe children's sweat, tears, dirty ears, and to clean their mouths.
The mother also used it as a towel to wipe her hands.
After eating food, cleaning the mouth with the pallu was a joy in itself.
Whenever there was pain in the eyes...
Mother would make her pallu round,
blow on it, heat it and put it on the eyes,
the pain would disappear instantly.
For the children sleeping in the mother's lap,
her lap would act as a mattress and her pallu would act as a sheet.
Whenever a stranger came to the house,
the child would look at him from behind the mother's pallu.
Whenever the child felt ashamed about something, he would hide by covering his face with the pallu.
When the children had to go out,
mother's pallu would act as a guide.
As long as the child held the pallu in his hand, the whole universe was in his fist.
When the weather was cold...
mother would try to protect him from the cold by wrapping him around herself.
And, when it rained,
mother would cover him in her pallu.
Pallu --> also worked as an apron.
Mother used to use it as a hand towel.
Pallu was used to collect sweet berries and fragrant flowers falling from trees.
Paddy, donations, prasad were also collected in the pallu.
Pallu was also very helpful in removing dust from the things kept in the house.
If ever something got lost, then immediately tie a knot in the pallu and be assured that it will be found soon.
By tying a knot in the pallu, mother used to keep a mobile bank or safe, and if everything went well, then sometimes some money was also received from that bank.
I don't think science has found an alternative to the pallu!
Mother's pallu is nothing but a magical feeling!
Those who have affection and relation always feel this love and affection of their mother, which today's generation understands or not........
Now where will the mothers who wear jeans get the pallu from
Don't know......!!
Can Karna kill Lord Rama with Vasavi Shakti?
Can Karna kill Lord Rama with Vasavi Shakti?
Short answer No. Karna was not capable of killing Lord Rama with Vasavi Shakt.
Firstly what makes the Vasavi Shakti powerful is the boon attached to it. Vasavi Shakti was infallible as it was empowered by boon of Indra and had the ability to kill anyone otherwise other weapons of Arjuna could have easily countered it if not for the boon.
This is what Karna asked from Indra:-
Do thou, O Vasava, in exchange for my coat of mail and ear-rings, give me a dart incapable of being baffled, and competent to destroy hosts of enemies when arrayed in order of battle!'.
And Indra says that Karna can kill anyone using the Vasavi shakti be it a demon, god or gandharva
Whoever you wish to kill among the gods, the asuras, humans, gandharvas, uragas and rakshasas with this weapon, will certainly be killed.” Earlier, he was known by the name of Vasushena. But after this deed, he became known by the name of Vaikartana Karna.’267
Bori ce Section Seven Sambhava Parva chapter 104
Ved Vyasa and Krishna accepted that if not for Krishna Karna would have killed Arjuna by Vasavi Shakti not NOT BECAUSE OF HIS EFFORT but thanks to his divine intervention.
There is no chance that Arjuna - or anyone, for that matter, could stop the Vasavi, not even Rama. The difference is that whilst Rama and Lakshmana, being Vishnu, will get up to fight again, Arjuna would be killed, just as he was by a posioned lake, and when he fell from a mountain and died. Whereas divine avataras of Vishnu like Balarama, Lakshmana, Rama and Krishna all leave the world of their own accord and even if wounded in battle, do not face death.
About Vasavi Shakti Lord Rama would not try to counter the Vasavi Shakti because if he countered it then it would be a disrespect to words of Indra. Lord Ram deliberately lost conscious inorder to respect the Brahmastra(infallible) and let the serpent weapon(infallible) tie him willingly because of them being infallible.
Lakshmana recovered by himself after getting struck by infallible Brahma spear of Ravana .
The stake was removed from Lakshmana, the slayer of enemies, and he regained his composure. He remembered his own self and that he had been born from Vishnu’s portion.
Same applies on Lord Rama also who is complete incarnation of Vishnu.
Lord Rama did not have any boon, then also he was totally unaffected and unmoved by the deadly Brahmastra astra of Meghnad which killed 67 crore vanaras. He himself respected that Brahmastra along with Lakshman
"Honouring the spell sacred of Brahma the creator, the two sons of the venerable Dasaratha have actually lost their free will and became dejected and have allowed themselves to be knocked down by the missiles of Indrajit. Hence do not be afraid. There is no occasion for despondency now." "This excellent missile, presided over by Brahma the creator, with never-failing strength, was given to Indrajit by Brahma. Honouring it, Rama and Lakshmana the princes fell down in battle. This not a time for despondency here."
~valmiki Ramayana Yuddh Kanda Sarga 74
Karna cannot kill Rama with Vasavi Shakti because of his divinity but Lord Rama would allow the Vasavi Shakti to defeat him in order to respect boon of Indra just like he did in case of Naagpash and Infallible Brahmastra. But would have overcome this weapon after a spell of unconsciousness and then overcome Karna in battle.

In this grudge, “Jaichand ”became enemy of “Prithviraj”. He wanted to finish Prithviraj and affair of Prithviraj with Sahyogita came as a big insult to him. Therefore in order to avenge his loss, he befriended “Mohammed shahbuddin ghori”, ruler of Ghor (present day Afghanistan)
When ghori invaded India in 1192, for the 2nd time, after a humiliating defeat from Prithviraj, this time with a bigger army, Prithviraj united with all the kings to form a big army. He also invited Jaichand but he declined. Instead he became ally of ghori in the fire of taking revenge
Ultimately Prithviraj was defeated, blinded by inserting hot iron in his eyes and martyred at Ghor.
After his defeat Jaichand was also beheaded by ghori.
And an “Islamic empire” was established in Delhi which subsequently expanded to other parts of the country.
Thus country paid a huge price because Delhi sultanate got established and Hindus were humiliated, murdered and their humiliation continued for centuries that ended with our partition.
Had Prithviraj not been ditched by Jaichand history would be way different.

So, let me ask you now: What’s one good thing about your day
How arrogant was Draupadi?
How arrogant was Draupadi?
Yudhisthira admired Draupadi for her beauty and diligence.
“She retires to bed last and she is the first one to wake up. She looks after the cowherds and the shepherds. She knows everything about what should be done and what should not be done.”
The princess was fiery, not intimidated by adversity and well read. The elders Drona, Bhishma, Vidhur, Kripa etc hung their heads and expressed their inability to fight on Yudhisthira’s behalf after he lost his kingdom in the game of dice. Draupadi clad In a single stained garment stood in the Assembly full of men and argued. Since the Pandav had staked himself before he staked her, she was not a slave hence. Further she sought her husbands freedom and weapons when Dhritrastra granted her three boons.
She was righteous and hence suffered. Though angry with Yudhisthira for his love for dice and consequently staking her, Panchali stood by him.
“Though he is himself unskilled, the king was challenged in this Sabha by those who are skilled, evil minded and deceitful, those who love the game of dice. How can it be said he chose voluntarily ? The pure hearted and foremost among the Kurus and the Pandavs was robbed of his senses by inclinations towards deceit. “
While in exile for twelve years, Panchali was the only Pandava wife who was with her husbands all through in the rough terrains.
In the thirteenth year of anonymity, the once queen was the maid to queen Sudeshna dressing her hair and warding off advances of General Kichaka. He dragged her by her hair and kicked her in the presence of her husband and King Virata. The protector was unable to protect looking on helplessly at her humiliation. She took it all valorously but got him killed by Bhim in the darkness of night without her husbands coming to harms way.
Panchali was righteous but not docile. She had all through sought retribution for the wrong done to her husbands, sons and herself.
NO GRAVE ROBBING
Good Morning!!!
NO GRAVE ROBBING
Around the Year with Emmet Fox
September 7
Don't be a grave robber. Let corpses alone.
In due course nature disposes of such remains,
if they are left undisturbed.
Every time you dig up an old grievance or an old mistake
by rehearsing it in your mind or, still worse,
by telling someone else about it,
you are simply ripping open a grave—
and you know what you may expect to find.
Live the present.
Prepare intelligently for the future—and let the past alone.
This is what Jesus meant when he said,
“. . . let the dead bury their dead”
Matthew 8-22
Make a law for yourself today that
you are not going to touch mentally any negative thing
that has happened up to the present moment—
and keep that law.
Life is too precious for grave robbing.
The past is past—liquidate it.
If a negative memory comes into your mind,
cremate it with the right thought (the fire of Love)
and forget it.
Who did Krishna love the most, Arjun or his wives like Rukmini and Satyabhama?
Who did Krishna love the most, Arjun or his wives like Rukmini and Satyabhama?
Krishna himseff answered this question while talking to Daruka on 13th night.
When it was the middle of the night, Janardana woke up. He remembered Partha’s oath and spoke to Daruka. ‘Because he was oppressed at the death of a relative, Arjuna has taken an oath. O Daruka! He has said that he will kill Jayadratha before tomorrow is over. Having heard this, Duryodhana will consult his advisers, so that Partha cannot kill Jayadratha in the battle. Several of his akshouhinis will protect Jayadratha. Drona and his son are skilled in the use of all weapons. If someone is protected by Drona, not even the brave thousand-eyed one,34 the oppressor of daityas and danavas, ventures to kill him. Tomorrow, I will act so that Arjuna, Kunti’s son, can kill Jayadratha before the sun has set. My wives, my friends, my relatives and my kin are not dearer to me than Arjuna, Kunti’s son, is. O Daruka! Bereft of Arjuna, I will not be able to look at the world even for an instant. Therefore, it shall not be that way.35 For Arjuna’s sake, I will slay the standard-bearers of the enemy, with their horses, chariots and elephants, with Karna and Suyodhana. In the great battle tomorrow, let the three worlds witness my valour. O Daruka! For Dhananjaya’s sake, I will show my valour in the battle. O Daruka! Tomorrow, I will rout thousands of kings and hundreds of princes, with their horses, elephants and chariots. Tomorrow, you will witness the army of kings shattered by my chakra. For the sake of Pandava, I will angrily bring them down in the battle. Tomorrow, the gods, the gandharvas, the pishachas, the serpents, the rakshasas and all the worlds will know me as Savyasachi’s well-wisher. He who hates him, hates me too. He who follows him, follows me too. Use your intelligence to comprehend that Arjuna is half of my body. When night is over and morning has dawned, prepare and yoke my supreme chariot according to the rites decreed in the sacred texts.
Chapter 1033(56), BORI CE
Krishna says that Arjun is dearer to him than his wives.
He would not be able to see the Earth even for an instant without Arjun.
Those who hate Arjun, hate him too. Those who follow him, follow him too. Arjun is half of Krishna’s body.
Why did Kunti have five sons and no daughters
Why did Kunti have five sons and no daughters? Did she have a preference for having daughters as well?
In the Mahabharata, Kunti the mother of the Pandavas, had five sons yudhishthira, Bhima ,Arjuna ,nakula and sahadeva but no daughters. This watch not due to any personal preference or gender bias but rather a consequence of the divine circumstances surrounding her life.
According to the story, Kunti was granted a boon by the sage durvasa , which allowed her to invoke any God and have a child by him. She accidently invoke Surya ,the sun God, and had Karna, her firstborn. Later, she invoked other gods, Yama ( Dharma) Yudhishthir, Yavu ( wind) Bhima, Indra ( rain) Arjun, and madri pandu’s second wife, used the same mantra with kuntis guidance, to invoke the Ashwini twins, and thus gave birth to the twin brother Nakun and Sahadeva.
Saga Durvasa’s boon granted Kunti the ability to have a son from each god , and since the god's were male, it's possible that only sons could be born through this divine intervention.
The Hindu mythology, the god's are often depicted as male, and their energies and attributes are associated with masculine qualities, while goddesses and feminine energies are also revered , the god's in the context were male, which might have influenced the gender of kunti’s children.
In this conclusion, there is no indication in the Mahabharata that Kunti had a preference for having only sons or that she deliberately chose not to have daughters. The circumstances of her life and the divine interventions led to her having five sons.
Infact , in Hindu mythology, it is considered a blessing to have both sons and daughters, as they are seen as a source of joy and strength for the family. Kunti's situation was an extraordinary one, shaped by her unique circumstances and the will of the god's.
Thank you

BRAIN TREE
A BOOK OF 365 POSITIVE QUOTES
“We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world,” said Gautama Buddha. These are pearls of wisdom, verily cast in stone.
Humans have set footprints on the moon, made valorous attempts to explore the universe and decipher the mysteries in its exponential womb (forever expanding), but we are yet to fathom the enigma called the human mind.
The mind is perpetually cannonaded (an astonishing fifty thousand to sixty thousand per day!) with innumerable thoughts, which are largely antipathetic and Sisyphean in nature.
These diminish our aura and take away from our persona. We cling on to the coattails of negativity and the mind is shrouded by tenebrosity, unable to separate grain from the chaff. Vast multitudes capitulate even before taking up the cudgels.
What distinguishes some individuals like Helen Keller and Maj DP Singh(of Kargil war fame), Louis Hay (who was physically and mentally exploited at a tender age), Thomas Alva Edison (a venerable scientist who lost his hearing power after a bout of scarlet fever), from mortals who lose hope and are unable to scale the summit?
It is the strength of the human mind.
How are achievers and successful people different from those who succumb?
A robust mind is blessed with efficacious thoughts.
This book is a collection of 365 positive quotes to transfigure the mind and make a difference.
Certainly life is like a synodic curve; there are upheavals and breathtaking and pleasant moments too. However, a brawny mind is one which is configured to take up challenges to signal a change, offer solutions and not be perennially complaining and end up becoming a part of the problem.
'Aano bhadra krtavo yantu vishwatah' (meaning: Let noble thoughts come to me from all directions). This is a Vedic mantra ( Rig_Veda 1.89. 1) which is the corner stone of the book. A WhatsApp message, an anonymous quote or thoughts of eminent scholars , politicians , achievers , scientists , entrepreneurs , artistes , sportspersons , spiritual leaders , strains of important religious texts all play a pivotal role in metamorphosing our lives . The key lies in us keeping our antenna open to idea and not sink our heads like an ostrich in sands of time.
The book is divided into six categories to strengthen the mind. These are delineated as:
Good Day
Religion and God
Philosophers and Spiritual Masters
Movers and Shakers- Famous Personalities
Game Changers
Intrinsic Laws of the Universe
In this book we begin with the Serenity Prayer. It is a very powerful and potent prayer which ought to be recited everyday unfailingly to make the mind a suzerain and not remain a bondsman to antipathetic thoughts.

My India, my Love
Ours is a country of astonishing paradoxes. We are the nation that can send a rocket to the moon on a fraction of NASA’s budget. And yet we cannot keep our railway stations clean. Walk into any platform after a train has pulled out—banana peels on the tracks, plastic cups scattered, empty packets blown by the hot wind, a stray dog nosing through the mess. And above it all, a triumphant poster of Chandrayaan like a lark ascending. This is a contradiction that stares us in the face. We conquer the heavens with justified pride, but are booby-trapped by our own garbage back on earth.
Why do we tolerate this? Why does a civilization that once built Nalanda University and the Kailasa at Ellora, the ghats of Varanasi and the ethereal fastnesses of Mandu, allow its public spaces to drown in ugliness? Where and what is our definition of the aesthetic of public spaces? Why have we forsaken the sublime for the subliminal? We are assaulted daily by broken pavements, crooked dividers, men relieving themselves on walls, unplanned facades screaming chaos. These are not small irritations. They are assaults on our dignity.
And here is the truth: a nation that cannot walk with dignity on its footpaths cannot stride with confidence on the world stage.
We talk endlessly of our demographic dividend. But what dividend is it, when every new child must fight for a hospital bed, for a seat in an overcrowded classroom, for a job on a crowded street? I have seen government wards where three patients share one bed, where mothers with newborns queue for oxygen. Is this dividend—or debt? Why do we not speak openly of family welfare grounded in planning, of small families as a duty, not a taboo? We must stop imagining that every new birth is a gift if we cannot give that child dignity.
A developed India is not one where every city has a flyover. It is one where every child has a library. Once upon a time we had Nalanda and Takshashila, temples of learning that drew the world. Today, in too many towns, children study under a dim streetlamp because their school has no library at all. We build malls of marble and glass, but our public libraries gather dust or decay. What kind of future are we constructing if our children have shopping arcades, but no sanctuaries of knowledge?
We must create the searchlight mind—the enquiring mind that questions, that refuses to sink into the dreary desert sand of habit. That is the true infrastructure of a developed India. Flyovers will crumble. But minds, once lit, shine forever.
And what of our Constitution? We swear allegiance to it. But do we understand what that means? To honor the Constitution is not to cheer a leader. It is to honor a republic that makes leaders servants, not masters. Every Republic Day, we see tanks and parades, flags waving high. But the real parade is invisible—it is millions of us paying taxes honestly, obeying laws, respecting courts, treating strangers with dignity. Our flag should be a covenant.
And yet beneath all of this lies something deeper still: our ethics, our values. What, after all, are values? They are not sermons in a civics textbook. They are how we behave when no one is watching. They are honesty in the smallest of things: not bribing the constable, not cutting the queue, not forging the certificate, not exploiting the weak. Today, too often, we excuse corruption as cleverness, deceit as ingenuity, bending rules as pragmatism. We admire the man who “manages” the system, not the one who obeys it. But nations are not built on cunning. Nations are built on character.
Our civilization gave the world the idea of dharma—duty, righteousness, the right path. But we have shrunk dharma to ritual, to temple visits, to public displays. We forget that dharma is how we treat our neighbor, how we treat the powerless, how we care for the common good. The true test of our values is not how we worship in private, but how we behave in public.
Religion too must be asked of its true purpose. Our rishis, our saints, our gurus—did they preach hatred? Did Kabir divide? Did Nanak exclude? Did the Buddha ask us to hurl stones at one another? Religion was meant to teach us compassion, to teach us to look within. But today, temples and mosques and churches too often echo with the rhetoric of exclusion. We are missing the true message of our spirituality. We are trading bhakti for bigotry.
And how do we treat our history? As a great river of diversity, where tributaries meet? Or as a blunt instrument, to settle scores across centuries? We forget that history is a mirror—meant to teach, not to be wielded as a weapon.
Then there is how we see ourselves. We have begun to worship leaders as heroes cast in stone. We build giant statues while our schools crumble, while our libraries shut down. We pour concrete into idols, while our civic sense withers. Let us be clear: real heroes are not 600 feet tall. They are the teacher in a village classroom, the nurse in a government hospital, the mother saving so her daughter can study. They are flesh and blood, not bronze and granite.
Even E.M. Forster, in A Passage to India, wrote of us as sheep—sheeple, too willing to follow, too afraid to question. Shall we prove him right? Or shall we show that we are citizens—questioning, thinking, shaping our republic with conscience?
And what of our neighbors? India is the largest in South Asia. But to be dominant is not to be domineering. A giant that bullies is not respected. A giant that reconciles, that lifts others, that resolves old quarrels—such a giant commands true leadership. Europe was once torn by centuries of war between France and Germany. But they chose reconciliation. They chose courage. Do we have that courage? Or will we remain chained to quarrels that keep us diminished?
And yet, I end not in despair, but in hope. Because I believe in the unknown Indian. The woman sweeping her doorstep at dawn who can eclipse Michelangelo in the cosmic geometry of the Kollam she draws . The father who insists on sending his daughter to school. The street vendor who gives you exact change though he has so little. The autorickshaw driver who keeps his vehicle spotless. The farmer who bends his back in the heat, not for praise, but because that is his duty.
This is the wellspring of our future—the basic goodness, the stoicism and common sense of our people. If we can tap that, if we can shape it with civic discipline, with education, with compassion, with dignity, then we can build not just a strong India, but a beautiful India.
Because India does not just need to grow. India must grow up.
And I believe it can.
