KINDNESS

 KINDNESS

1.When I was a fresh mom with two under three my card got declined in the checkout line. The baby was in the car seat, the two-year-old was asking for bubble gum and chocolate bars. I felt like I could just melt into the floor.

Without missing a beat, the man behind me in line handed the cashier his card. ‘I’ve got it.’ He said.

That was ten years ago, and I will never forget it.

When I worked at a coffee shop, we had someone buy their own coffee and then anonymously buy the next person in lines coffee just saying, ‘pay it forward’. The next person was shocked to hear their coffee was covered and said, ‘well I want to buy the one for the next costumer’. The pay-it-forward lasted most of the afternoon with people buying other people’s drinks. My friend at the cash register was near tears by the end of her shift.

2.I won’t ever forget that day and I doubt she has either.

One time in the Target line a mom with a brand-new infant and two littles who were crying and clinging to her legs asked if I might hold her baby for a minute. I took that baby and rocked her in my arms until she stopped fussing.

I bet that mom remembers that day, I know I do.

When my toddler was somewhere between threenager and fournado she threw I giant tantrum in a shopping center. I held her on a park bench while she screamed like I was her kidnapper. A couple older ladies stopped and said, ‘You’re doing an AMAZING job mama, hang in there!!’

3.I will never ever forget them or their words that day.

In a train depot in France we were lost and confused trying to figure out where to go. An older man sitting near us accidentally dropped some cash on the ground. My daughter who was six found it and returned it to him. He and his friend loaded us up with snacks from their bags and then in broken English asked if we needed help. They ended up walking us all the way to our next train and riding it with us for a while just to make sure we didn’t get lost.

We won’t ever forget those two men.

One time on a family road trip we stopped at a roadside cafe to get lunch. When we went to pay, we found out that another couple had already bought it saying that we had a ‘sweet family’.

4.You better believe we will remember that forever.

Kindness is so powerful. It can be such a little thing like buying someone’s coffee or giving an encouraging word to someone who could use it. You just never know the impact it might have. My guess is that most of us remember the times that someone stepped out of their own life just to bless ours.”

Inimitable Parsis

Parsis are Cute & always witty & Crack  jokes . You can experience  while living in Mumbai

After his Holy Trip to Jerusalem, Bomanji was caught by Customs for carrying liquor.
Customs Officer : “Sir, what is in the bag?”
Bomanji : “Holy water from Jerusalem.”
Customs (after smelling & tasting): “Don’t lie, Sir. It's Whisky..”
Bomanji : “O Jesus, One more miracle.”
________
Today is Bomanji's girlfriend’s birthday.
Bomanji asked her, “Can I get you a diamond necklace, for your birthday?”
She said: “Nothing would please me more”
So he got her Nothing.
Bomanji will always be grateful to his English teacher.
________
Last night Bomanji was driving back home from a party. He was high and saw there was Police checking. He was scared at that very moment, but then immediately got down from the driver's seat and sat in the back seat.
After a few minutes the Police Officer came and asked Bomanji to move his car ahead for alcohol test.
Bomanji said: “My driver ran away seeing you.”
The Police Officer replied: “Then you move your car ahead for the checking.”
Bomanji said: “No sir, as a true Indian citizen, I should not drive drunk.”
The Officer looked at Bomanji, got emotional and applauded him for his responsible behaviour.
He sent one constable to drive Bomanji's car home.
Kaun kehta hai peene ke baad dimag kaam nahi karta ?
_________
Doctor asked Bomanji to cut down his drinking by
three fourths.
Smart Bomanji stopped adding Soda.
________
Bomanji phones his doctor: Doctor, I have not gone out since the first lockdown started. Now I have important work in the market. What should I do?
Doctor: Don’t worry. Just wear mask and hand gloves. It is sufficient. It will protect you from Corona.
Bomanji follows the doctor’s advice and goes out.
To his horror, others were wearing pants and shirts as well !

*Breeding will prevail*

Thoroughly drunk Bawa Dorabjee can't hold it any longer & farts loudly in a London restaurant.

Lord Humphrey sitting at the next table gets very angry and says, “Excuse me.  You have no decency, farting before my wife”.

Distraught with contrition,  Bawa Dorabjee stutters,  “My hundred apologies. Believe me, I did not realise it was her turn !!".

That is the trouble with the English language !!!

Hanuman vs Valmiki

 Radhe Radhe Jai Sri Krishna*

*Unsung Hero’s in our life*

When Valmiki completed his Ramayana, Narada was not impressed. 'It is good, but Hanuman's is better', he said.

'Hanuman has written the Ramayana too!', Valmiki didn't like this at all, and wondered whose Ramayana was better.

So he set out to find Hanuman.

In Kadali-vana, grove of plantains, he found Ramayana inscribed on seven broad leaves of a banana tree.

He read it and found it to be perfect. The most exquisite choice of grammar and vocabulary, metre and melody. He couldn't help himself. He started to cry.

'Is it so bad?' asked Hanuman
'No, it is so good', said Valmiki
'Then why are you crying?' asked Hanuman.

'Because after reading your Ramayana no one will read my Ramayana,' replied Valmiki.

Hearing this Hanuman simply tore up the seven banana leaves stating
"Now no one will ever read Hanuman's Ramayana.'"

Valmiki was shocked to see this action of Hanuman and asked him why he did this,Hanuman said, 'You need your Ramayana more than I need mine.

You wrote your Ramayana so that the world remembers Valmiki;
I wrote my Ramayana so that I remember Ram.'

At that moment he realized how he had been consumed by the desire for validation through his work.

He had not used the work to liberate himself from the fear of invalidation.

He had not appreciated the essence of Ram's tale to unknot his mind.

His Ramayana was a product of ambition;
but Hanuman's Ramayana was a product of pure devotion & affection. That's why Hanuman's Ramayana sounded so much better.

*Reflection:*

There are people like Hanuman who don't want to be famous. They just do their jobs and fulfill their purpose.

*There are many unsung "Hanumans" in our life too, our spouse, mother, father, brother, friends, let's remember them and be grateful to all.*

Chitragupt's Problem ... !*- As received

 Chitragupt's Problem ... !*

One day Chitragupt told Brahma that he should stop this scheme, that if ladies keep Karva Chauth they will get the same husband for the next 7 janams.

Brahma asked, "Why ?"

Chitragupt, "Prabhu, it's becoming difficult to manage. The ladies want the same husband and the husbands want a new wife. It's a problem to convince both."

Brahma, "But this can’t be stopped. It’s been going on since time immemorial."

Just then Narad muni comes and he suggests, "On earth there is a great person called Santa Singh. Ask him for a solution."

Chitragupt meets Santa Singh.

In one minute Santa Singh solves the problem.

He advises Chitragupt, "Any lady who wants the same husband will also get the same MOTHER-IN-LAW !"

*We learnt the Pythagoras theorem in 7th grade:*

*We learnt the Pythagoras theorem in 7th grade:*

*Did you know that there is an alternate, simple and ancient Indian  method to compute hypotenuse?*

The Tamil kings, centuries before the dawn of the Common Era had built dams,  dykes, palaces and great cities during the Sangam era. How did the architects in those times design and build  the great turrets in temples and the great dams, canals, highways, etc.
Upon searching it was revealed that finding the hypotenuse of a right-angle triangle can be done independent of the Pythagoras theorem, (which enunciates that sum of the square of both sides of the right angle will be equal to the square of the hypotenuse, of the triangle).
It is a simple task to find the square of a number, but finding the square root of a number is not so easy. There is no simple formula to find the square root of a number.
*An ancient Tamil mathematician/poet _Pothayanar_, who lived 800 years before the Common Era*, had given a quatrain of four lines articulating the method of finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right-angle triangle without the need to find the square or the square-root, only using the length of the sides, and simple fractions.
Here is the English translation of the quatrain:
Divide the horizontal into eight,
Delete one portion, and add the remaining, to half of vertical to result you’ve got. The answer would be hypotenuse of the triangle‼️

The Tamil poem by poet _Pothayanar_ is :
ஓடும் நீளம் தனை ஒரேஎட்டுக்
கூறு ஆக்கி கூறிலே ஒன்றைத்
தள்ளி குன்றத்தில் பாதியாய்ச் சேர்த்தால்
வருவது கர்ணம் தானே
    —– போதையனார்

The advantage of the ancient theorem is that  there is no need to use a square / square root function.
But before we jump to conclusions let us see how this ancient and simple formula works :
Let us take the three sides of the right-angle triangle to be A, B, and C, where C be the hypotenuse.
Let us take A and B to be the horizontal and perpendicular
sides respectively.
If we are to divide A into eight parts and takeaway one eight, it would be 7/8A.
The half of the vertical side will be 1/2B.
Thus, the result should be :
C= 7/8A + 1/2B

Say A=8 and B=6

By Pythagoras theorem, C equals
√ (8x8+6x6) = √ (64+ 36)
= √100 =10.
Now, according to the quatrain :
C should be 7/8 A+ ½ B

 7/8 of A (8) = 7 and ½ of B (6) =3
Together they add up to give hypotenuse to be 7+3=10
*Second* with A=28 and B=21 then
by Pythagoras theorem
C= √ (21x21+28x28)
C = √ (441+784)
which is =√1225 = 35

According to quatrain : hypotenuse becomes 7/8A + 1/2 B.
7/8 A=7/8 (28) = 24.5 and
1/2B= 1/2 (21) = 10.5
Thus 24.5 + 10.5= 35.

 *Third* with A= 12 and B= 5 then
By Pythagoras theorem
C= √ (12x12) + (5x5)
= √(144+ 25)
√169 =13.

According to the ancient Tamil quatrain :  the hypotenuse becomes 7/8A + 1/2B
7/8(12) = 10.5
1/2 (5) = 2.5
Thus 10.5 +2.5 =13

_Pothayanar_ must have been a great mathematician, who got lost like fruit hidden in the foliage of the tree.
The discoveries of the Greek scientists and mathematicians spread far and wide along with their conquests in the world.
Unfortunately, in ancient India,  many great intellectuals, and their knowledge / findings were  lost to the world owing to various reasons and events.
Our schools teach the  Pythagoras Theorem to our children. They should also teach _Pothayanar's_ theorem as an alternate and easier method, as explained above

"Everyone knows me there."

 (1) Albert Einstein's wife often suggested that he dress more professionally when he headed off to work. "Why should I?" he would invariably argue. "Everyone knows me there."

(2) When the time came for Einstein to attend his first major conference, she begged him to dress up a bit. "Why should I?" said Einstein. "No one knows me there!"

(3)Albert Einstein was often asked to explain the general theory of relativity. "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour," he once declared. "Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity!"

(4)When Albert Einstein was working in Princeton university, one day he was going back home he forgot his home address. The driver of the cab did not recognize him. Einstein asked the driver if he knows Einstein's home. The driver said "Who does not know Einstein's address? Everyone in Princeton knows.Do you want to meet him?. Einstein replied "I am Einstein. I forgot my home address, can you take me there? "The driver reached him to his home and did not even collect his fare from him.

(5)Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger. When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn't find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets. It wasn't there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn't find it. Then he looked in the seat beside him. He still couldn't find it.

The conductor said, 'Dr. Einstein, I know who you are. We all know who you are. I'm sure you bought a ticket. Don't worry about it.' Einstein nodded appreciatively. The conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets. As he was ready to move to the next car, he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands and knees looking under his seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, 'Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don't worry, I know who you are. No problem. You don't need a ticket. I'm sure you bought one.' Einstein looked at him and said, 'Young man, I too, know who I am. What I don't know is where I'm going.'

6) When Einstein met Charlie Chaplin:

Einstein said,
*"What I admire most about your art, is its universality. You do not say a word, and yet ... the world understands you."*

“It's true,” replied Charlie Chaplin,
*"But your fame is even greater: The world admires you, when nobody understands you.".*

Nice & refreshing are good old memories.

"Why do we have Brakes in a car"

Someone asked,
"Why do we have Brakes in a car"

Many answers were provided like

 "to stop",

"to reduce speed",

 "to avoid collision" etc.

But the *Best* I found was,

*"To allow you to drive faster"*

Give it a thought...
It's True, but seldom appreciated.

It's because we have brakes that we can dare to accelerate, dare to go fast and reach destinations we desire.

At various points in life,
We found our parents, teachers, mentors, friends, colleagues and spouse etc. questioning our progress, direction or decision...
But remember, it's because of them that you are where you are today.

Learn to appreciate the *'Brakes'* in your life

CASH begging to be stopped from today*

CASH begging to be stopped from today*

*Beggar's Free Bharath Movement initiated by Bengaluru Hudugaru*

*Now it's a national movement and spreading fast to the whole nation.*

*Give beggars (food + water+clothes). But not a single rupee to give in cash.*

*A different movement has started in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, be it any kind of beggar.*
*This movement is right.*

*If any kind of person (female / male / old / Disabled / children) is begging, we will give (food + water) instead of money, but from today they will not beg for money*

*As a result, at the international / national / state level, gangs of 'beggars' will break up and then child abduction will stop on its own..*

*Get started Share the post ..*

*Please don't give a single rupee to a beggar.*
*Keep biscuits in the car if you feel like it*
 *But don't pay cash*

If you agree with this campaign, forward this idea to the your groups.

UNFOLDING THE ROSE 🌷

Sharing a poem by 13th Century Sufi poet - Jalaluddin Rumi

UNFOLDING  THE ROSE 🌷

It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die. 🥀

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose. 🌹

KAILASH MANSAROVAR YATRA

   Kailas Mansarovar Yatra

“Shiva Tattva is where there is no mind and the moon signifies the mind. When there is no mind then how can this ‘no-mindedness’ be expressed? You need a little bit of the mind to understand, experience and to express. The no-mind, infinite consciousness requires that little bit of mind to express itself in the manifest world. So, to express that inexpressible, that little mind (crescent moon) is on Shiva’s head. Wisdom is beyond the mind, but it needs to be expressed with a tinge of mind and this is symbolized by the crescent moon,” says the spiritual master H.H. Sri Ravi Shankar.

There was once a blue stock student who passed out with distinction from an estimable college in Delhi University. Numerous opportunities beckoned him -the Civil Services examination, joining a corporate house, or turning to journalism among others. Instead he embarked on a peregrination to the lofty peaks of Mt.Kailasa.

Meanwhile a friend who was well ensconced in the hallowed portals of Rail Bhavan, commanding humungous power was unexpectedly diagnosed with osteoporosis. In order to overcome the pain of the condition, the doughty fighter enrolled herself at the Bihar School of Yoga, which did ameliorate her condition. She learnt that some of her course-mates planned a trip to the majestic Mt.Kailasa and a dip in the Mansarovar Lake. The brawny warrior ignored all aches and witnessed the grandiose peaks of Mt.Kailasa.

A third friend, himself a mini czar in the travel and tourism business and living life king-size awoke one morning with a seizure and slumped into his bed. A chord struck in his mind and he resolved to “feel pristine nature” after he was sufficiently recovered.

They all faced existential crises and sought a certain fulfilment in life; they were determined to experience something out of the ordinary. Though all 3 were at different stages in their lives, by merely gazing at the sheer majesty of Mt.Kailasa, they experienced true celebration in their mind and soul; something they had never experienced in the ho-hum existence of everyday drudgery.

The pristine snow clad peaks of Mt.Kailasa stand tall at a dizzy 6,638m. This august Kailash Range (part of the Gangdisê Mountains), is nestled in the Trans Himalaya in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

This undefiled peak is located near the holy Lake Mansarovar and Lake Rakshastal, in the vicinity of the interminable Asian rivers like the imposing and exalted Indus, the Sutlej, the Brahmaputra, and the Karnali (also known as Ghaghara, a tributary of the Ganges in India).

It is noteworthy to mention that Mt.Kailasa is considered to be the sacred cradle of four prominent oriental religions, namely Bon, Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.

The mountain itself derives its name from the word ‘kelasa’ or crystal. Preeminent authors of Tibetan-English history and literature have also mentioned the word ‘kai la sha’ for this towering mountain, which essentially is a Sanskrit word.

The Tibetan name for the mountain is Gangs Rin-po che. Gangs or Kang is the Tibetan word for snow peak, analogous to alp or himarinpoche is an honorific meaning ‘precious one’. So the combined term is loosely translated as ‘precious jewel of snows’. Tibetan Buddhists refer to it as Kangri Rinpoche or Precious Snow Mountain. Bon texts have christened the peak as Water’s Flower, Mountain of Sea Water and Nine Stacked Swastika Mountain.

For those professing Hinduism, the peak is the home of the Hindu God Shiva and it is widely believed that Lord Shiva resides there; for Jains it is where their first leader was enlightened; for practising Buddhists it is the navel of the universe; and for adherents of Bon religion the mountainous range is the abode of the Sky Goddess Sipaimen.

There are numerous sites in the region which are associated with Padmasambhava, whose tantric practices in the consecrated sites around Tibet which are credited with finally establishing Buddhism as the main religion of the country in the 7th-8th century AD.

Years back on account of hostilities between India and China, the pilgrimage to the legendary abode of Shiva was curtailed (from 1954 to 1978). Thereafter, a limited number of Indian pilgrims have been allowed to visit the place, under the supervision of the Chinese and Indian governments, via a lengthy and  hazardous trek over the Himalayan terrain, travel by land from Kathmandu or from Lhasa where flights from Kathmandu are available to Lhasa and thereafter travel over the great Tibetan plateau by car.

The voyage spans over four night stops, finally arriving at Darchen at an elevation of 4,600 m, a small outpost that swells with pilgrims at certain times of the year.

Despite the existence of minimal infrastructure, modest not opulent guest houses are available for foreign pilgrims, whereas Tibetan pilgrims generally sleep in their own tents. A small regional medical centre serving far-western Tibet and funded by the Swiss Ngari Korsum Foundation was built here in 1997 to house pilgrims.

Circumnutating the mountain, of which a part is an official park, is to be executed on foot, by pony or by domestic yak. It takes around three days of trekking, going past the Tarboche (flagpole) to cross the Drölma pass at 5650m.

An interesting facet for all pilgrims, troupers, mountaineers and those pining for inner peace to absorb is that Mt. Everest stands erect at m 8,848m in height, with the summit being scaled by over 4,000 people. The awe-inspiring Mt.Kailasa is 6,638m and yet its summit is yet to be conquered.

It is said that in 1926, Hugh Rutledge, an English Civil Servant and mountaineer studied the north face, and proclaimed that it was ‘utterly unclimbable’ and thereafter considered an ascent of the northeast ridge, but gave up the plan.

In 2001, reports emerged that the Chinese government had accorded permission for a Spanish team to climb the peak, which caused an international backlash. Chinese authorities disputed the reports, and stated that any climbing activities on Mt.Kailasa were strictly prohibited. Reinhold Messner, an explorer and mountaineer unequivocally condemned the reported Spanish plans, and was to remark that, “If we conquer this mountain, then we conquer something in people’s souls. I would suggest they go and climb something a little harder. Kailasa is not so high and not so hard.”

“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves,” was to remark the icon Edmund Hillary. The trip to Mt.Kailasa and Lake Mansarovar fall in that category.

*It's really confusing. Can you explain?"* 🤔

*The old teacher smiled and apparently deviating from the question asked the young professional:*

*"Are you from this city?"*

*Professional : "Yeah..."*

*Teacher : "Who are there at home?"*

*The professional felt that the teacher was trying to avoid answering his question since this was a very personal and unwarranted question. Yet the  young  professional said: "Mother had expired. Father is there. Three brothers and one sister. All married..."*

*The old teacher, with a smile on his face, asked again: "Do you talk to your father?"*

*The  young  professional looked visibly annoyed...*

*The old teacher : "When did you talk to him last?"*

*The old teacher : "How many days did you all stay together?"*

*The young  professional (wiping the sweat on his brow) said: "Three days..."*

*Old teacher : "How much time did you spend with your Father, sitting right beside him?"*

*The young  professional looking  perplexed and embarassed and started scribbling something on a paper...*

*The old teacher : "Did you have breakfast, lunch or dinner together? Did you ask how he was? Did you ask how his days are passing after your mother's death?"*

*Drops of tears started to flow from the eyes of the young  professional.*

*The old teacher held the hand of the young  professional and said: "Don't be embrassed, upset or sad. I am sorry if I have hurt you unknowingly... But this is basically the answer to your question about "Contact and Connection ." You have 'Contact' with your father but you don't have 'Connection' with him. You are not connected to him. Connection is between heart and heart...*
*Sitting together, sharing meals and caring for each other, touching, shaking hands, having eye contact, spending some time together... All your  brothers and sisters have 'Contact' but no  'Connection' with each other..."*🤗

*The Young  Professional wiped his eyes and said : "Thanks Sir for teaching me a Fine & Unforgettable Lesson."*

*This is the reality today.*
*Whether at home or in the society everybody has lots of contacts but there is no connection. Everybody is busy in his or her own world...*

*Let us not maintain just,*
          *"Contacts"*.
*But let us*
*Remain "Connected,"*
    *"Caring,Sharing"*
                *&*
     *Spending Time*
*With all our Dear Ones.*
